Electrically-Charged Lifshitz Spacetimes, and Hyperscaling Violations [PDF]
Electrically-charged Lifshitz spacetimes are hard to come by. In this paper, we construct a class of such solutions in five dimensional Einstein gravity coupled to Maxwell and $SU(2)$ Yang-Mills fields. The solutions are electrically-charged under the Maxwell field, whose equation is sourced by the Yang-Mills instanton(-like) configuration living in ...

Unification of Gravity and Yang-Mills Theory in (2+1)-Dimensions [PDF]
A gauge and diffeomorphism invariant theory in (2+1)-dimensions is presented in both first and second order Lagrangian form as well as in a Hamiltonian form. For gauge group $SO(1,2)$, the theory is shown to describe ordinary Einstein gravity with a cosmological constant.

Effect of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) and canola (Brassica napus) residue on weeds, yield and yield components of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) [PDF]
Introduction Weeds have significant negative effects on agricultural ecosystems. They are responsible for the decline of crop yield because of competition with crops for water, nutrients and sunlight. Existing weed control methods are either expensive or

Surface-Invariants in 2D Classical Yang-Mills Theory [PDF]
We study a method to obtain invariants under area-preserving diffeomorphisms associated to closed curves in the plane from classical Yang-Mills theory in two dimensions. Taking as starting point the Yang-Mills field coupled to non dynamical particles carrying chromo-electric charge, and by means of a perturbative scheme, we obtain the first two ...

Assembly and transport of nematic colloidal swarms above photo-patterned defects and surfaces
We investigate the dynamic assembly and swarm translocation of anisometric colloidal particles dispersed in a nematic liquid crystal and driven above a photosensitive surface. We use liquid crystal-enabled electrophoresis to propel these particles via an

Dyon in the $SU(2)$ Yang--Mills theory with a gauge-invariant gluon mass toward quark confinement [PDF]
In the previous paper, we have shown the existence of magnetic monopoles in the pure $SU(2)$ Yang--Mills theory with a gauge-invariant mass term for the gluon field being introduced. In this paper, we extend our previous construction of magnetic monopoles to obtain dyons with both magnetic and electric charges.

Chinese Meridian Project near-surface atmospheric electric field observations
The near-surface atmospheric electric field is an important parameter in disciplines such as space physics and atmospheric science. Variations in the atmospheric electric field represent the state of the global atmospheric circuit and charge distribution

An operational windmill in an open-air museum as a conservation challenge: Lessons from projects recently implemented in Poland [PDF]
The article discusses the methods of protecting historic windmills and recognising them as valuable objects of industrial heritage. Therefore, examples of attempts to restore windmills as working mills after 2010 are discussed.
