Research on an Electric Power Steering System with Active Steering Ability
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013To introduce a new type of electric power steering system, the structure and working principle of the system were introduced, and the models of the car, the tire and the steering system were established. The assist characteristic of the power steering and the ideal steering ratio were also designed and optimized.

Friction compensation control for electric power steering systems
2018 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics for Sustainable Energy Systems (IESES), 2018This paper considers friction compensation control problems for electric power steering systems (EPSs) of vehicle. According to the requirement analysis of vehicle assistant control, a mathematical model of EPSs is established, and a double closed-loop control system structure is proposed.

Control of Electric Power Steering Systems
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998<div class="htmlview paragraph">The dynamic characteristics of electric power steering (EPS) systems can be characterized by the transmissibility from rack load to steering wheel torque. The transmissibility can be studied by fixing the steering wheel and calculating the frequency response from the rack load to the torque needed to hold the ...

Control-Oriented Model for Electric Power Steering System
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2006<div class="htmlview paragraph">Electric power steering (EPS) systems have been used to replace hydraulic power steering systems in vehicles. How to enhance the safety and reliability while reducing the manufacturing cost of EPS systems is still of strong interest to the automotive industry.

Steering feel improvement by mathematical modeling of the Electric Power Steering system
Mechatronics, 2021Abstract Currently, the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is an essential component of the vehicle because it provides assistive steering torque to the driver. To ensure a faster steering response, the position of the EPS in some vehicles is moved closer to the tire rather than the steering wheel.

New generation of electrically powered hydraulic steering system
ATZ worldwide, 2005Electrically powered hydraulic steering systems (EPHS) have been in mass production for approximately six years. They have been and still are very successful in the market as they follow the trend of supplying fully assembled and tested steering modules as well as meeting increasing demand for engine independent electrically powered systems. During the

Sensorless control of Electric Power Assisted Steering system
2012 20th Mediterranean Conference on Control & Automation (MED), 2012This paper deals with the sensorless control of Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) system with the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using sliding mode techniques. Using steering wheel angle and motor currents measurements, two cascaded sliding mode observers with unknown inputs are designed.

Control of Electric Power Steering System – OpenModelica Simulation
2019 4th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech), 2019As the automotive industry is evolving, Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system presents a great step forward in comparison to classical systems. Electric assist motor is the main part of an EPAS. This paper discusses methods used for control improvement as seen through Pfeffer model. Boost curve algorithm and PID controller influence the amount

Torque estimation in electrical power steering systems
2009 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference, 2009Currently, all Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) systems employ a pinion torque sensor, between the steering column and pinion, to determine the amount of the torque assist to the driver. This torque assist is calculated via a tunable nonlinear boost curve.
