X-Ray sum frequency generation; direct imaging of ultrafast electron dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
X-ray diffraction from molecules in the ground state produces an image of their charge density, and time-resolved X-ray diffraction can thus monitor the motion of the nuclei.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structure and Morphology of Anthraquinone Triazene Films on Silicon Substrate

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла, 2020
An optimal imposition method of anthraquinone triazenes on silicon lining was selected. This allowed to create a nanometer film that can be used as dielectric aromatic buffer layers.

Large density amplification measured on jets ejected from a magnetized plasma gun [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Observation of a large density amplification in the collimating plasma jet ejected from a coplanar coaxial plasma gun is reported. The jet velocity is ~30 km s^-1 and the electron density increases from ~10^20 to 10^(22–23) m^-3.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Local density of states of electron-crystal phases in graphene in the quantum Hall regime

open access: yes, 2009
We calculate, within a self-consistent Hartree-Fock approximation, the local density of states for different electron crystals in graphene subject to a strong magnetic field.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Exploring Nonlinear Diffusion Equations for Modelling Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Dye-sensitized solar cells offer an alternative source for renewable energy by means of converting sunlight into electricity. While there are many studies concerning the development of DSSCs, comprehensive mathematical modelling of the devices is still ...

Generating energetic electron generation through staged-acceleration in the two-plasmon-decay instability in inertial confinement fusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A new hot-electron generation mechanism in two-plasmon-decay instabilities is described based on a series of 2D, long-term ( 10 ps) particle-in-cell and fluid simulations under parameters relevant to inertial confinement fusion.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.
