Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Engineering Unequal Antipolar Displacement in Ferromagnetic Layered Oxide Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically precise superlattices of the double perovskites La2NiMnO6 and Sm2NiMnO6 are grown to engineer an unequal antipolar displacement of the La and Sm ions. These structural motifs are confirmed by the scanning transmission electron microscopy and first‐principles calculations.

Scalable Solar Evaporator Based on Bandgap Engineered CuMnCrO4 Spinel Oxide with Salt‐Resistant Property for Contaminated Seawater

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Incorporating multiple cations (Cu2⁺ and Cr3⁺) into the Mn3O4 spinel lattice strategically tunes the electronic structure, narrowing the bandgap from 2.3 to 1.49 eV. This enhances visible–NIR light absorption and photothermal conversion, enabling a high water evaporation rate of 4.1 kg m−2 h−1 under 1 sun.

Photoluminescence and EPR Studies of ZnS Nanoparticles Co-Doped With Mn and Te [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2011
ZnS nanoparticles Co-doped with Mn and Te (x = 0.05 and 0.10) have been synthesized for the first time by chemical co-precipitation method, thiophenol is used to passivate the surface of the particles.

A Biochar‐Based Composite Hydrogel Microenvironment for Enhanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the synthesis of a polyacrylamide hydrogel wherein biomass‐derived biochar is co‐encapsulated with the enzyme horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The resulting composite hydrogel possesses balanced electron‐rich and electron‐deficient domains, creating an optimal microenvironment that concentrates both hydrogen peroxide and phenol ...

Spin‐Dependent Photoluminescence in Carbon‐Based Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Here we report, for the first time, room‐temperature magneto‐photoluminescence and optically detected electron spin‐resonance in carbon quantum dots (CQD). We perform measurements on a series of amino acid derived CQD at room temperature and demonstrate their sensing potential by detecting paramagnetic molecules in solution.

Decoration of Carbon Nanotubes with Cerium (IV) Oxide

open access: yesХімія, фізика та технологія поверхні, 2011
Cerium (IV) oxide (ceria) nanoparticles, 6–10 nm in size, supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were prepared by a chemical reaction between Ce(NO3)3 and NaOH. The effective processing parameters of ceria particles size were discussed.

2D MOF with Intrinsic Porosity for Colorimetric Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An uncommon 2D MOF with intrinsic in‐plane porosity that can be mechanically exfoliated undergoes a distinct and reversible colour change upon exposure to various volatile organic compounds. ABSTRACT In this work, we report an uncommon 2D metal–organic framework (MOF) with intrinsic in‐plane porosity that undergoes a distinct and reversible colour ...
