Gene‐specific double‐stranded RNAs induce mortality in the South African mealybug Delottococcus aberiae

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Gene‐specific double‐stranded RNAs effectively silence essential genes in the invasive citrus pest Delottococcus aberiae, leading to significant mortality through both microinjection and oral delivery. These results provide proof of concept for RNA interference‐based biopesticides as selective and sustainable tools for citrus integrated pest management.

Produksi IgY Antivirus Avian Influenza H5N1 dan Prospek Pemanfaatannya dalam Pengebalan Pasif

open access: yesJurnal Veteriner, 2009
Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) in yolk has been shown in several studies to prevent both bacterial and viralinfections. This research was conducted to find evidence that IgY specific against avian influenza virus(AIV) of H5N1 subtype can be produced in a large ...

Characterisation of a global collection of Dothistroma pini isolates : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Molecular Biology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Dothistroma pini is a filamentous fungus which infects Pinus radiata, New Zealand's predominant forest species. Dothistroma blight causes premature defoliation, a reduction in the rate of growth and, in extreme cases, death of the trees.

Bacillus thuringiensis and its pest control potential as endophyte

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) systemically colonizes tomato plants as endophyte, inducing midgut damage, fitness reduction and immune suppression in Spodoptera littoralis larvae feeding on Bt‐colonized leaves. The immune suppression enhances the susceptibility to Bt treatments, allowing a synergistic dual use of Bt commercial formulations, by combined ...

Identification of dothistromin biosynthetic pathway genes : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Molecular Genetics at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Dothistromin is a polyketide-derived toxic secondary metabolite produced by the filamentous fungus Dothistroma pini which causes the disease Dothistroma needle blight in Pinus radiata.

Survival of a potential bacterial biocontrol agent in the soil and its impact on microbial communities

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
In soil microcosms, the candidate Bacillus persisted ≥6 months and caused modest community shifts whose transience and magnitude were soil dependent. Abstract BACKGROUND Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is a major crop pathogen commonly managed using fungicides.

Development of a pathogenicity testing system for Dothistroma pini infection of Pinus radiata : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Microbiology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Dothistroma pini is a fungal pathogen of pine species around the world and can be found in most parts of New Zealand. Infection by D. pini causes a disease commonly known as Dothistroma needle blight. Dothistroma needle blight has a significant financial

Resistance of Botrytis cinerea to anilinopyrimidine fungicides: A novel ARMS‐PCR method for the detection of Bcpos5 mutations and characterization of resistance using CRISPR/Cas9 editing

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A TETRA‐primer amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (T‐ARMS‐PCR) method was developed for simultaneous detection of the L412F/V and G408V mutations. L412F/V mutants were created using the CRISPR/Cas tool and no fitness cost was observed.
