Blue-native PAGE in plants: a tool in analysis of protein-protein interactions
Intact protein complexes can be separated by apparent molecular mass using a standard polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis system combining mild detergents and the dye Coomassie Blue.

Biologic activity in a fragment of recombinant human interferon α [PDF]
To attempt to locate functionally important regions of the interferon (IFN) molecule, recombinant human IFN-α2 was subjected to proteolytic digestion. The bacterial proteinase thermolysin produced two major complementary fragments, HuIFN-α2-(1-110) and ...

A role for glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase in the development of thermotolerance in Xenopus laevis embryos [PDF]
During heat shock, Xenopus laevis embryos exhibit an increase in the rate of accumulation of lactate and a loss of ATP relative to non-heat- shocked control embryos.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Elution of proteins from polyacrylamide eels: a simple and economic procedure
A simplified methodology for the quantitative electroelution of proteins from polyacrylamide gels is described. After staining with Coomassie Brilliant Blue R 250, the identified bands are excised from the gel and the proteins eluted using a procedure ...

Purification and characterisation of a carboxylesterase from the latex ofSynadenium grantii Hook, ‘f’ [PDF]
The latex ofSynadenium grantii was found to contain esterolytic activity. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic study coupled with substrate and inhibitor specificity studies revealed the presence of multiple forms of carboxylesterases and cholinesterases ...

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Modulation of apoprotein E secretion in response to receptor-mediated endocytosis in resident and inflammatory macrophages. [PDF]
We have determined the effect of various endocytic ligands on the secretion of ApoE by macrophages. ApoE was a major secreted protein of resident macrophages, but BCG-activated macrophages secreted little ApoE and periodate-elicited macrophages secreted ...
