Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis in proteomics: past, present and future [PDF]
Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis has been instrumental in the birth and developments of proteomics, although it is no longer the exclusive separation tool used in the field of proteomics. In this review, a historical perspective is made, starting from the days where two-dimensional gels were used and the word proteomics did not even exist.

Formation and quantification of protein complexes between peroxisomal alcohol oxidase and GroEL [PDF]
We have studied the use of yeast peroxisomal alcohol oxidase (AO) as a model protein for in vitro binding by GroEL. Dilution of denatured AO in neutral buffer leads to aggregation of the protein, which is prevented by the addition of GroEL.

Variations on a theme: Changes to electrophoretic separations that can make a difference [PDF]
Electrophoretic separations of proteins are widely used in proteomic analyses, and rely heavily on SDS electrophoresis. This mode of separation is almost exclusively used when a single dimension separation is performed, and generally represents the second dimension of two-dimensional separations.

Study of total seed storage protein in indigenous Brassica species based on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) [PDF]
Genetic diversity was studied in 234 accessions of locally collected Brassica species for total seed protein content through sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). These accessions were collected from different locations of

Electrophoretic separation of proteins [PDF]
There are several structural and storage proteins in the tissues of Crustacea. Some of them are metallo-proteins, some are enzymic in nature. Several electrophoretic procedures were used for the separation of these proteins.

The Whereabouts of 2D Gels in Quantitative Proteomics [PDF]
Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis has been instrumental in the development of proteomics. Although it is no longer the exclusive scheme used for proteomics, its unique features make it a still highly valuable tool, especially when multiple quantitative comparisons of samples must be made, and even for large samples series.

Activity staining method of chitinase on chitin agar plate through polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis [PDF]
A method for detection of chitinase activity on chitin agar plate after polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis is described. Different staining dyes such as calcofluor white M2R, fluorescein isothiocyanate, rhodamine B, ruthenium red and congo red were ...
