Mathematical models of continuous flow electrophoresis: Electrophoresis technology [PDF]

open access: yes
Two aspects of continuous flow electrophoresis were studied: (1) the structure of the flow field in continuous flow devices; and (2) the electrokinetic properties of suspended particles relevant to electrophoretic separations.

Hydrophobicity causes anomalous migration of cystine/glutamate antiporter SLC7A11 in SDS‐PAGE with low acrylamide concentration

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...

Evaluation of protein fractions as biochemical markers for identification of spelt wheat cultivars (Triticum spelta L.)

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2003
Four protein fractions: 1 - albumins and globulins, 2 - gliadins, 3 - glutenins (extracted in NaOH), 4 - glutenins (extracted in SDS) separated by SDS-PAGE were used as biochemical markers for evaluation of polymorphism level in three spelt wheat ...

Advanced glycation end products promote the release of endothelial cell‐derived mitocytosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under diabetic conditions, AGEs induce mitochondrial damage in HUVECs, activating migrasome‐mediated mitocytosis. Migrasomes encapsulate damaged mitochondria and are released into the extracellular space, facilitating intercellular mitochondrial transfer.

Evaluation of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis-based proteome analysis technology.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2000
Proteome analysis is most commonly accomplished by a combination of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) to separate and visualize proteins and mass spectrometry (MS) for protein identification.

Targeted Long‐Read Sequencing as a Single Assay Improves the Diagnosis of Spastic‐Ataxia Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The hereditary spastic‐ataxia spectrum disorders are a group of disabling neurological diseases. The traditional genetic testing pathway is complex, multistep and leaves many cases unsolved. We aim to streamline and improve this process using long‐read sequencing. Methods We developed a targeted long‐read sequencing strategy with the
