Fluid Dynamics and Electrical Detection of λDNA in Electrode-Embedded Nanochannels

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2013
In the present study, we address theoretical approaches for the experimental results to investigate the flow dynamics of λDNA through a nanochannel in which two nanoelectrodes are integrated.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Single-molecule measurements of trapped and migrating circular DNA during electrophoresis in agarose gels

open access: yes, 2006
The effect of agarose gel concentration and field strength on the electrophoretic trapping of open (relaxed) circular DNA was investigated using microscopic measurements of individual molecules stained with a fluorescent dye.

Coupling gel electrophoresis with photoluminescence reveals biochrome complexes in modern and fossil shells

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis is commonly used to visualize mixtures of proteins, such as those embedded in calcareous biominerals. However, it is ineffective for the detection of biochromes, a major class of low molecular weight organic compounds ...

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

The determination of isoflavones and coumestrol by capillary electrophoresis

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2001
The separation of six isoflavones (biochanin A, isoformononetin, formononetin, prunetin, daidzein and genistein) and coumestrol on an uncoated fused-silica capillary electrophoresis column was optimised using alkaline borate buffer as electrolyte and DAD

The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Temperature Dependence of Electrophoretic Mobility and Hydrodynamic Radius of Microgels of Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)

open access: yesGels, 2018
Electrostatic interactions in charged microgels, which are dominated by the microgel net charge, play a crucial role in colloidal stabilization and loading of small, charged molecules.
