Recent Advances in Reactive Microdroplets for Clean Water and Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive microdroplets enable precise and sustainable chemistry at small scales. This review explores their role as confined reactors and dynamic interfaces for synthesizing functional materials, fuels, and microdevices. It offers a critical perspective on how droplet‐based platforms can drive next‐generation technologies in clean energy, environmental

Disruption of Sulfur Metabolism and Redox Homeostasis in Staphylococcus aureus Using Mechanically Robust Antibiofilm Ti‐Bi Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Titanium (Ti) and bismuth (Bi) are selected as alloying elements for the preparation of the Ti‐Bi binary alloy system. Biofilm formation is found to be inhibited by bismuth through the disruption of sulfur metabolism and redox homeostasis, as well as through the direct downregulation of biofilm‐associated proteins.

On the general scaling theory for electrospraying

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2004
A systematic dimensional rationale is proposed here to analyse the electrohydro-dynamic equations governing liquid electrospraying phenomena in the well-known steady cone-jet mode with no ambient discharges. As a result, a general, unified description of the complete parametrical space for the emitted current and droplet size is given.

FLIP: Transforming Consumer Projectors into Maskless Microscale Photopatterning Tools via Fresnel Lens Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A low‐cost, maskless visible light photopatterning system has been developed by combining a consumer‐grade projector with a single Fresnel lens, generating the Fresnel Lens Integrated Projector (FLIP) system. FLIP enables flexible photopatterning of solid and gel films with features down to 30 µm and 135 µm, respectively.

Preparation of microspheres with sustained ketoprofen release by electrospray for the treatment of aseptic inflammation

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
The treatment of aseptic inflammation has always been a clinical challenge. At present, non-steroidal drug-loaded microspheres have been widely used in the treatment of aseptic inflammation due to their excellent injectable and sustained release ...

Morphology and Nanostructure of Granular Materials Built from Nanoparticles

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
Nanopowders or nanoparticles can be used as building blocks for the preparationof new materials with a prescribed structure. Monte Carlo simulations have shownthat the morphological properties (bulk porosity and surface roughness) of agranular deposit ...

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Sympathetic Crystallization of Molecular Ions

open access: yes, 2003
It is shown that the translational degrees of freedom of a large variety of molecules, from light diatomic to heavy organic ones, can be cooled sympathetically and brought to rest (crystallized) in a linear Paul trap.
