Tuning Antiaromaticity Through Meso‐Substituent Orientation in Core‐Modified Isophlorins

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The antiaromaticity of dithiadioxaisophlorins is controlled by the steric bulkiness of meso‐substituents through their tilt angle relative to the macrocycle. Bulkier substituents maintain larger angles, preserving stronger antiaromaticity, while smaller groups facilitate π‐conjugation with the macrocycle, diminishing antiaromaticity.

Extracellular Vesicles in Calcium Oxalate Nephrolithiasis: Emerging Biomarkers and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Kidney stones cause significant pain and healthcare costs. Current prediction, diagnosis, and treatment options are limited. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), rich in proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, offer a promising solution. This review explores the roles of EVs in kidney stone management, highlighting their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic ...

Nuclear Quantum Confinement Enables Robust Deuterium Bonds for Highly Reversible Aluminum Anodes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Quantum confinement by leveraging D as a quantum bridge is engineered to tailor stronger intra‐ and intermolecular D‐bonds, effectively suppressing water reactivity and achieving exceptional HER inhibition. The induced Al3+ solvation structures further inhibit the decomposition of water at the interface and improve Al redox reversibility.

Light‐Driven Ratchet Mechanism Accelerates Regioselective Metal‐Cation Exchange in a Heterobimetallic Helicate

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Photoswitchable homo‐ and heterobimetallic helicates form with high diastereo‐ and regioselectivity via single‐step self‐assembly or self‐sorting. White‐light exposure autonomously operates one helicate as a molecular ratchet, promoting the selective formation of an out‐of‐equilibrium structure.

Hinge‐Like Mechanochromic Mechanophores Based on [2.2]Paracyclophane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Hinge‐like supramolecular mechanophores utilizing [2.2]paracyclophane have been developed. In the force‐free state, the rigid [2.2]paracyclophane forces two luminophores into proximity, leading to excimer‐dominant photoluminescence. Stretching the polyurethane films into which the mechanophores are covalently incorporated results in the structures of ...
