Resonant Drive Techniques for Electrostatic Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS): A Comparative Study

open access: yesSensors
Electrostatic actuation is widely employed in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) due to its distinct advantages. However, it requires high voltage, typically provided by a power supply and a high voltage amplifier, which is limited in gain, especially

Programmable 3D Photovoltaics via Mechanically Origami‐Coded Interlocked 3D Kirigami and Nano‐Root Anchored AgNWs–In–Ga Multiphasic Alloy Conductor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mechanically origami‐coded 3D kirigami photovoltaics convert a single extension–release cycle into deterministic self‐folding, reconfiguring planar solar cells into programmable 3D modules. Distinct coding strategies enable either ultrahigh stretchability (500% system strain) or ultrahigh initial effective areal coverage (225%).

Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Developing an Energy-Efficient Electrostatic-Actuated Micro-Accelerometer for Low-Frequency Sensing Applications

open access: yesActuators
Micro-accelerometers are in high demand across many due to their compact size, low energy consumption, and excellent precision. Since gravity causes a large movement when the device is positioned vertically, measuring low gravitational acceleration is ...

Rational Tuning of Hygroscopic Oscillation of Stacked Nanoflake Assemblies for Continuous Ambient Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...
