Electrostatic wave excitation in planetary magnetospheres: Application to Neptune
Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1993Voyager 2 observations of electrostatic electron and ion cyclotron harmonic waves in Neptune's magnetosphere are addressed. A model of electron Bernstein modes generated by a loss cone distribution of superthermal electrons is scaled to Neptune parameters and a comparison of theory with the observed electron flux shows good agreement. A model of proton

Dynamics of nonlinearly damped microcantilevers under electrostatic excitation
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2012Nonlinear dynamic behaviour of a cantilever microbeam actuated by a combination of DC and AC loading are investigated in presence of squeeze-film damping. A reduced order model formulated accounting for the nonlinearities of the system arising out of electrostatic forces and squeeze-film damping is numerically simulated to observe the large amplitude ...

Ion-beam-excited electrostatic ion cyclotron waves
Physics Letters A, 1976Abstract Self-excited electrostatic ion cyclotron waves were observed in an ion-beam-plasma system produced in a DP-operated Q-machine. The frequency of the waves showed the theoretically predicted variation with the magnetic field.

Excitation of electrostatic plasma turbulence by a magneto-acoustic wave
Nuclear Fusion, 1974An integral equation which generalizes the dispersion relation for electrostatic plasma modes with wave numbers in the presence of a large-scale magnetoacoustic (pump) oscillation is derived. This calculation is accurate to all orders in the parameter where is the amplitude of the particle displacement induced by the pump wave.

Low pressure encapsulated resonant structures excited electrostatically
Proceedings of International Solid State Sensors and Actuators Conference (Transducers '97), 2002Low pressure encapsulated resonant structures were built with a cavity pressure of 1 mbar, obtained and measured for several structures bonded anodically to glass lids with different recess depths from 20.5 to 44 /spl mu/m. The same pressure has also been demonstrated for structures with integrated electrodes for electrostatic excitation and capacitive

Nonlinear dynamics of multidimensional electrostatic excitations in nonthermal plasmas
Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2013Electrostatic solitary waves in plasmas are the focus of many current studies of localized electrostatic disturbances in both laboratory and astrophysical plasmas. Motivated by recent experimental observations, in which electrostatic solitary structures were detected in laser-plasma experiments, we have undertaken an investigation of the nonlinear ...

Ion-beam excitation of electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves
The Physics of Fluids, 1976Electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves are excited by a cesium ion beam injected into a cesium plasma in a Q machine. Strong interactions are observed. Spatial growth rates are measured as a function of beam and plasma parameters.

The Vibration of A Rotating Hemispherical Shell Excited by Electrostatic Field
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 1996The modal equations of motion of an electrostatically forced rotating hemispherical shell are derived based on Niordson thin shell theory. These equations are coupled by the Coriolis force and the applied electrical field. The parametric instabilities can be excited when the amplitude and frequency of the harmonic eletrical force are located in some ...
