Volumetric locking in the element free Galerkin method

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1999
Summary: A new formulation of the element free Galerkin (EFG) method is developed for the modelling of incompressible materials. Beginning with a mixed variational principle, a selective reduced integration procedure is developed by implementing nodal quadrature. Numerical examples are provided which compare the performance of the proposed technique to

Elasto‐plastic analysis of plates by the element free Galerkin method

Engineering Computations, 2006
PurposeThe aim of this paper is to extend the Element Free Galerkin method (EFGM) in order to perform the elasto‐plastic analysis of isotropic plates.Design/methodology/approachThe EFGM shape‐function construction is briefly presented. The Newton‐Raphson method and the elasto‐plastic algorithm adapted to the EFGM, are described.

Element-Free Galerkin method with wavelet basis

2006
Many numerical methods have been developed and used to solve problems of computational mechanics. Recently, one of the hottest topics in computational mechanics is the meshless or meshfree method. Some meshless methods have been proposed and achieved remarkable progress, such as the element-free Galerkin (EFG) method [1], the meshless local Petrov ...

The element-free Galerkin method in large deformations

1997
The engineering design process which involves alternate stages of model construction and analysis, can be carried out more efficiently if the analyses are performed on a numerical model, rather than an actual prototype. To this point, the finite element method has been the most widely used numerical technique for the analysis of solids, due primarily ...
