Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Factors influencing visual attention switch in multi-display user interfaces: a survey

open access: yes, 2014
Multi-display User Interfaces (MDUIs) enable people to take advantage of the different characteristics of different display categories. For example, combining mobile and large displays within the same system enables users to interact with user interface ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Pronoun Fronting to Negation in Late Archaic Chinese

open access: yesActa Linguistica Asiatica
This paper examines clause-internal preposing of pronominal non-wh-determiner phrases (non-wh-DP) in Late Archaic Chinese (LAC). Demonstrative pronouns may front to preverbal positions above negation, either in the left periphery or within the sentence ...

An electrical interpretation of mechanical systems via the pseudo-inductor in the Brayton-Moser equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper an analogy between mechanical and electrical systems is presented, where, in contrast to the traditional analogy, position dependence of the mass inertia matrix is allowed. In order to interpret the mechanical system in an electrical manner,

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

>Let $ R $ be a ring with identity. The commuting graph of $ R $ is the graph associated to $ R $ whose vertices are non-central elements in $ R $, and distinct vertices $ A $ and $ B $ are adjacent if and only if $ AB = BA $. In this paper, we completely determine the automorphism group of the commuting graph of $ 2\times 2 $ matrix ring over $ \mathbb{Z}_{p^{s}} $, where $ \mathbb{Z}_{p^{s}} $ is the ring of integers modulo $ p^{s} $, $ p $ is a prime and $ s $ is a positive integer.
