Preliminary Evaluation of a Novel Lupus Anticoagulant Activity Assay Unaffected by Anticoagulants

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 15, August 2026.
A novel one‐step lupus anticoagulant (LA) assay based on the LA‐sensitivity ratio (LA‐SR) was developed to simplify diagnostic testing and reduce potential interference from anticoagulants. The LA‐SR method showed good agreement with guideline‐based LA testing (dRVVT and/or LA‐sensitive APTT) for the detection of LA and demonstrated limited influence ...

SIRT Family: Biological Functions and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
SIRT1–SIRT7 networks from transgenic mice to human‑relevant therapeutic targets. SIRT1–SIRT7 form an isoform‑, organ‑, and disease‑specific regulatory network. Transgenic Sirt1–7 mouse models define central regulatory SIRTs (SIRT1, SIRT3, SIRT6), context‑dependent modifiers (SIRT2, SIRT4, SIRT5, SIRT7), and their key mechanisms and target organs. These

The Effects of Proresolution of Ellagic Acid in an Experimental Model of Allergic Airway Inflammation

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2013
Asthma is a disease of airway inflammation characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness, eosinophilic inflammation, and hypersecretion of mucus. Ellagic acid, a compound derived from medicinal plants and fruits, has shown anti-inflammatory activity in ...

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Molecular Pathogenesis and Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
This graphical summary illustrates the multiorgan therapeutic landscape for Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D), integrating molecular pathogenesis with modern treatment strategies. It depicts how current interventions, including SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP‐1 receptor agonists, and insulin secretagogues, target key organs—kidney, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract,

Metabolite‐Driven Biological Activity of Mandragora autumnalis and Spartium junceum: A Comparative LC‐MS/MS Study on Antioxidant, Cholinesterase, and Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibition

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
Low‐molecular‐weight phenolic acids in M. autumnalis were associated with antioxidant activity, AChE, and hCA inhibition effects, whereas flavonoid‐rich S. junceum displayed BChE‐oriented inhibition effect and antibacterial activity. LC‐MS/MS‐based metabolite profiling linked distinct chemical compositions to bioactivity patterns, supporting further ...

How does leaf age affect performance? A comparative study of essential oils from young and mature Eucalyptus globulus leaves in crop protection

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 7510-7525, August 2026.
Leaf age influences metabolomic profiling but not bioactivity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oils. Leaf age affects volatile levels of young and adult E. globulus oils, but not their bioactivity. Young leaf essential oil had higher contents of α‐ and β‐pinene. AEEO had higher levels of 1,8‐cineole and trans‐pinocarveol.

The Role of Polyphenols in Respiratory and Gut Health: From the Perspective of Gut‐Lung Axis

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 5071-5089, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The gut‐lung axis constitutes a dynamic, multidirectional communication platform between the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. Its complexity arises from the integrated crosstalk among the microbiota, immune system, and redox homeostasis, collectively influencing disease susceptibility and progression.

Pomegranate Peel Polyphenol Extract Ameliorates Hyperuricemia by Inhibiting Uric Acid Synthesis and Reabsorption

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 2, August 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates the action mechanisms through which PPE alleviates HUA by inhibiting XOD activity, and by suppressing the PI3K‐AKT signaling pathway to downregulate the expression of the urate reabsorption transporters URAT1 and GLUT9, thereby promoting renal UA excretion and attenuating renal injury.
