An Integrated Approach for Making Inference on the Number of Clusters in a Mixture Model
This paper presents an integrated approach for the estimation of the parameters of a mixture model in the context of data clustering. The method is designed to estimate the unknown number of clusters from observed data.

Belief Revision and the EM Algorithm [PDF]
This paper provides a natural interpretation of the EM algorithm as a succession of revision steps that try to find a probability distribution in a parametric family of models in agreement with frequentist observations over a partition of a domain. Each step of the algorithm corresponds to a revision operation that respects a form of minimal change. In

Tracking with the EM Contour Algorithm [PDF]
A novel active-contour method is presented and applied to pose refinement and tracking. The main innovation is that no "features" are detected at any stage: contours are simply assumed to remove statistical dependencies between pixels on opposite sides of the contour.

A human microfluidic blood‐brain barrier (mBBB) model enables spatially resolved comparison of nanoparticle trafficking. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), liposomes, and nanoplastics exhibit distinct transport and disruption behaviors, revealing that membrane composition and uptake pathways govern BBB interaction.

Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.
