Embedded curves and foliations [PDF]

open access: yesPublicacions Matemàtiques, 2011
We prove the existence of regular foliations with a prescribed tangency divisor in neighborhoods of negatively embedded holomorphic curves; this is related to a linearization theorem due to Grauert. We give also examples of neighborhoods which can not be linearized.

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Semi‐supervised classification of fundus images combined with CNN and GCN

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, which is a kind of fundus lesion with specific changes. Early diagnosis of DR can effectively reduce the visual damage caused by DR. Due to the variety and different morphology of DR lesions, automatic classification of fundus images in mass screening can ...

SAAED: Embedding and Deep Learning Enhance Accurate Prediction of Association Between circRNA and Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Emerging evidence indicates that circRNA can regulate various diseases. However, the mechanisms of circRNA in these diseases have not been fully understood.

Impact of molecular diagnostics and targeted cancer therapy on patient outcomes (MODIFY): a retrospective study of the implementation of precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors conducted a retrospective study of 94 patients with advanced cancer who underwent next‐generation sequencing (NGS) gene panel analysis and received targeted treatments when applicable. Results further support evidence indicating that molecular profiling provides clinical benefit.

BERT-Kgly: A Bidirectional Encoder Representations From Transformers (BERT)-Based Model for Predicting Lysine Glycation Site for Homo sapiens

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioinformatics, 2022
As one of the most important posttranslational modifications (PTMs), protein lysine glycation changes the characteristics of the proteins and leads to the dysfunction of the proteins, which may cause diseases.

Cystatin A promotes the antitumor activity of T helper type 1 cells and dendritic cells in murine models of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be

Learning Meta-Embeddings by Using Ensembles of Embedding Sets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Word embeddings -- distributed representations of words -- in deep learning are beneficial for many tasks in natural language processing (NLP). However, different embedding sets vary greatly in quality and characteristics of the captured semantics. Instead of relying on a more advanced algorithm for embedding learning, this paper proposes an ensemble ...

Minimal surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^4$ like the Lagrangian catenoid [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In this paper, we discuss complete minimal immersions in $\mathbb{R}^N$($N\geq4$) with finite total curvature and embedded planar ends. First, we prove nonexistence for the following cases: (1) genus 1 with 2 embedded planar ends, (2) genus $\neq4$, hyperelliptic with 2 embedded planar ends like the Lagrangian catenoid.

Categories of embeddings

open access: yes[1988] Proceedings. Third Annual Information Symposium on Logic in Computer Science, 1989
AbstractWe present a categorical generalisation of the notion of domains, which is closed under (suitable) exponentiation. The goal was originally to generalise Girard's model of polymorphism to Fω. If we specialise this notion in the poset case, we get new cartesian closed categories of domains.
