Systematic Improvability in Quantum Embedding for Real Materials

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2022
Quantum embedding methods have become powerful tools to overcome the deficiencies of traditional quantum modeling in materials science. However, while these are systematically improvable in principle, in practice it is rarely possible to achieve rigorous

Embedding Mindfulness Practice Within a Higher Education Organisation: a Living Theory Influenced Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Neoliberal ideology and policies have influenced the management of higher education leading to ‘a doing more with less’ culture, in turn leading to a negative impact on contemporary working practices of academics. There has been an escalation

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Density-orbital embedding theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the article density-orbital embedding (DOE) theory is proposed. DOE is based on the concept of density orbital (DO), which is a generalization of the square root of the density for real functions and fractional electron numbers.

Excited States of Crystalline Point Defects with Multireference Density Matrix Embedding Theory

open access: yes, 2021
Accurate and affordable methods to characterize the electronic structure of solids are important for targeted materials design. Embedding-based methods provide an appealing balance in the trade-off between cost and accuracy - particularly when studying ...

String Theory in Embeddings Manifolds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical Physics, 2010
We consider the problem of infrared divergences in string theory in embeddings manifolds by means of the Nash theorem of Riemann metrics pametrized by ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Virtual Network Embedding Based on Topology Potential

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
To improve the low acceptance ratio and revenue to cost ratio caused by the poor match between the virtual nodes and the physical nodes in the existing virtual network embedding (VNE) algorithms, we established a multi-objective optimization integer ...

Five-dimensional gauge theory and compactification on a torus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study five-dimensional minimally supersymmetric gauge theory compactified on a torus down to three dimensions, and its embedding into string/M-theory using geometric engineering.
