Hormonal Replacement Treatment for Frozen-Thawed Embryo Transfer With or Without GnRH Agonist Pretreatment: A Retrospective Cohort Study Stratified by Times of Embryo Implantation Failures

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of the long-acting gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) administration before hormone replacement treatment for frozen-thawed embryo transfer in women with different times of embryo implantation failures ...

Microbead Implantation in the Zebrafish Embryo [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Visualized Experiments, 2015
The zebrafish has emerged as a valuable genetic model system for the study of developmental biology and disease. Zebrafish share a high degree of genomic conservation, as well as similarities in cellular, molecular, and physiological processes, with other vertebrates including humans.

Human Blastocyst Secreted microRNA Regulate Endometrial Epithelial Cell Adhesion

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2015
Successful embryo implantation requires synchronous development and communication between the blastocyst and the endometrium, however the mechanisms of communication in humans are virtually unknown.

Alternative Splicing in Embryo Implantation. [PDF]

open access: yesMatern Fetal Med
Abstract Alternative splicing (AS) is a crucial process that produces functionally distinct proteins from a single gene, depending on the developmental or physiological state of cells in multicellular organisms. It plays a significant role in cellular proliferation, survival, and differentiation, including embryonic development,

Telomere lengths in human oocytes, cleavage stage embryos and blastocysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Telomeres are repeated sequences that protect the ends of chromosomes and harbour DNA-repair proteins. Telomeres shorten during each cell division in the absence of telomerase.

Pre-implantation mouse embryos cultured In vitro under different oxygen concentrations show altered ultrastructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Assisted Reproductive Technologies routinely utilize different culture media and oxygen (O2) concentrations to culture human embryos. Overall, embryos cultured under physiological O2 tension (5%) have improved development compared to embryos cultured ...

Secreted MicroRNA to Predict Embryo Implantation Outcome: From Research to Clinical Diagnostic Application

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2020
Embryo implantation failure is considered a leading cause of infertility and a significant bottleneck for in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Confirmed factors that lead to implantation failure involve unhealthy embryos, unreceptive endometrium, and ...

Uterine luminal-derived extracellular vesicles: potential nanomaterials to improve embryo implantation

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology, 2023
Most pregnancy losses worldwide are caused by implantation failure for which there is a lack of effective therapeutics. Extracellular vesicles are considered potential endogenous nanomedicines because of their unique biological functions.

The evolution of embryo implantation

open access: yesThe International Journal of Developmental Biology, 2014
Embryo implantation varies widely in placental mammals. We review this variation in mammals with a special focus on two features: the depth of implantation and embryonic diapause. We discuss the two major types of implantation depth, superficial and interstitial, and map this character on a well-resolved molecular phylogenetic tree of placental mammals.

The Complicated Effects of Extracellular Vesicles and Their Cargos on Embryo Implantation

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2021
As a rate-limiting step in pregnancy, embryo implantation is highly dependent on intercellular communication. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are newly identified to be important in the course of intercellular communication.
