Toxicopathological Impacts Of Chlorpyrifos On Sperm Qualities And Testicular Tissue Alterations And Their Modulation With Vitamin E And Zinc In Male Albino Rats

open access: yesJournal of Applied Veterinary Sciences, 2020
This study was carried out on 30 mature male albino rats (2 months old, weighed about 130 g) in 3 groups of ten rats for each one in ARC. Group I, kept as control. Group II, daily intubated with CPF, at a dose level of 10.6 mg/kg BW in corn oil.

Pre-implantation maternal uterine effects on embryo growth and development : an investigation using models of maternal constraint in sheep : a thesis presented in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science, Massey University, Turitea, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Listed in 2017 Dean's List of Exceptional ThesesPrenatal development and growth are critical to survival of the fetus and neonate. Recent evidence suggests that a critical period for determining growth is the pre-implantation period of pregnancy during

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Partial Trajectory: The Story of the Altered Nuclear Transfer-Oocyte Assisted Reprogramming (ANT-OAR) Proposal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This essay aims to tell the story of the “altered nuclear transfer-oocyte assisted reprogramming,” or ANT-OAR, proposal—from its conception by Professor William Hurlbut of the President’s Council on Bioethics—to its adoption and promotion by a group of ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Characterization of the Endometrial Microbiota of Healthy Mares Across the Estrous Cycle

open access: yesAnimals
In the past, bacteria detected in the mare’s uterus were generally interpreted as a sign of endometritis, since the uterus was considered a sterile environment.

Ethics of modifying the mitochondrial genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent preclinical studies have shown the feasibility of specific variants of nuclear transfer to prevent mitochondrial DNA disorders. Nuclear transfer could be a valuable reproductive option for carriers of mitochondrial mutations.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.
