Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Alleviation of Aging‐Related Hallmarks in a Mouse Model of Progeria via a Nanoparticle‐Based Artificial Transcription Factor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oct4‐nanoscript, a biomimetic nanoparticle‐based artificial transcription factor, precisely regulates cellular rejuvenation by activating Oct4 target genes, restoring epigenetic marks, and reducing DNA damage. In a progeria model, it effectively rescued aging‐associated pathologies and extended lifespan.

O papel do complexo principal de histocompatibilidade na fisiologia da gravidez e na patogênese de complicações obstétricas Major histocompatibility complex: its role in the physiology of pregnancy and in the pathogenic mechanisms of obstetric complications

ABHD4-dependent developmental anoikis safeguards the embryonic brain

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
During embryonic development, neural progenitor cells undergo numerous cell divisions. Here, the authors show that ABHD4-mediated developmental anoikis distinguishes the physiological delamination and the pathological detachment of progenitor cells with ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Bacteria‐Derived Extracellular Vesicle as A “Trojan Horse” for Selective M1 Macrophage‐Targeting in A Multi‐Cellular Entanglement Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The temporary transition of macrophages from a pro‐inflammatory phenotype of macrophages (M1) to an anti‐inflammatory phenotype of macrophages (M2) is crucial for tissue repair and regeneration processes. Bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are utilized as a “trojan horse” for specific M1 macrophage‐targeting and anti‐inflammatory drug delivery ...

Synthetic Strategy for mRNA Encapsulation and Gene Delivery with Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research utilizes the ZIF‐8 for the encapsulation and intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, specifically mRNA, for applications in gene delivery. Integrating PEI addresses the issue of mRNA leakage from ZIF‐8, resulting in the delivery and expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in vitro and firefly luciferase in vivo.

Cell Surface Carbohydrate Changes During Embryonic and Fetal Skin Development

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1986
Monoclonal antibodies to four type 2 chain carbohydrate antigens were used for immunohistochemical studies of embryonic and fetal skin. The antibodies detected N-acetyllactosamine and 3 fucosyl substitutes of this, blood group antigen H, Lex, and Ley. Periderm consistently stained for N-acetyllactosamine, Lex and Ley.

VEGF and KDR gene expression during human embryonic and fetal eye development.

open access: yesInvestigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, 2004
PURPOSE It is important to understand the development of the normal retinal vascular system, because it may provide clues for understanding the mechanisms underlying the neovascularization associated with several retinopathies of infancy and adulthood ...
