Veterinary Research, 2018 BSE infectivity in mesentery fat is most likely associated with embedded nervous tissue. To prove this mesentery containing celiac ganglion was taken from oral BSE infected cattle in different stages of the disease and from one control animal.

Nihon Naika Gakkai Zasshi, 1997 1996年夏に多発した腸管出血性大腸菌O157感染症は医学的,細菌学的のみならず社会的な問題ともなった.本年になっても多くの集団例,散発例が報告され,けっして我々のまわりからO157の危険が去ったわけではない. O157感染症の大きな問題点はその病態が単なる食中毒のような腸管感染症にとどまらず, HUSや脳症のような重篤な合併症を併発し全身性感染症的要素を有すること,また合併症に対する有効な治療法が確立していないことである.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Nihon Naika Gakkai Zasshi, 1997 レジオネラは土壌細菌で世界中に分布しているが,近代の文化的生活における人工環境の至る所で増殖し,近年新たな展開を見せている.特に,人工環境水においては共存するアメーバを媒体として大量に増殖し,ありとあらゆる環境水からレジオネラ感染の危険性が高まっている.人工環境水の消毒の問題は人体への影響を考慮する必要があり,困難をきわめている状態である.わが国にはビル管理基準としての冷却塔におけるレジオネラ症防止指針が作成されているが,米国のCDCのような院内感染防止指針やその他の環境水に対する水の管理基準の策定はこれからである.診断法はPCR法や尿中抗原検出などかなりの進歩が見られているので,疑わしい症例では積極的にしかるべき施設へ依頼してでも確定診断を得る努力をする必要がある.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Nihon Naika Gakkai Zasshi, 1997 ハンタウイルスとは,ブニヤウイルス科ハンタウイルス属に含まれる一群のウイルスを指す総称である.その名は1973年李たちによって分離されたハンターンウイルスに由来する.ヒトに腎症候性出血熱(HFRS)やハンタウイルス肺症候群(HPS)など劇症の感染症をおこすウイルスが含まれる.ハンタウイルスの自然宿主は齧歯類であり,感染個体由来の乾燥した排泄物のエアゾールを介してヒトにも感染する.
