Three pairs of enantiomers (1–3)—the new 12R-aloesol (1a) and two new fatty acids (2 and 3)—and one new natural product (4) together three known compounds (5–7) were isolated from a coral-reef-derived Streptomyces sp. SCSIO 66814.

Rapid transient absorption and biliary secretion of enantiomeric cholesterol in hamsters
To probe the pathway and specificity of cholesterol absorption, the synthetic enantiomer of cholesterol (ent-cholesterol) and cholesterol were labeled with deuterium, gavaged into hamsters, and measured by negative ion mass spectrometry.

Chirality in Liquid Crystals: from Microscopic Origins to Macroscopic Structure [PDF]
Molecular chirality leads to a wonderful variety of equilibrium structures, from the simple cholesteric phase to the twist-grain-boundary phases, and it is responsible for interesting and technologically important materials like ferroelectric liquid ...

Neutral‐pH electropolymerization of aniline on laser‐induced graphene (LIG) produces stable, brush‐like polyaniline coatings without requiring acidic conditions. The resulting PANI–LIG electrodes exhibit enhanced electroactive surface area, efficient charge transfer, and dual sensing capability for β‐blockers and pH, providing a scalable platform ...

Susceptibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm to alpha-helical peptides: D-enantiomer of LL-37
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a highly versatile opportunistic pathogen and its ability to produce biofilms is a direct impediment to the healing of wounds and recovery from infection.

Mechanism of action of VP1-001 in cryAB(R120G)-associated and age-related cataracts [PDF]
PurposeWe previously identified an oxysterol, VP1-001 (also known as compound 29), that partially restores the transparency of lenses with cataracts. To understand the mechanism of VP1-001, we tested the ability of its enantiomer, ent-VP1-001, to bind ...

Biogenic Next‐Gen CPL Emitters: Strategies with Proteins, Polysaccharides, and Nucleotides
Biogenic molecules such as proteins, peptides, saccharides, and DNA can act as natural scaffolds for generating circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). This review highlights recent strategies exploiting these inherently chiral frameworks to achieve light emission with controllable handedness under unpolarized excitation, bridging biological ...

New Butenolides and Cyclopentenones from Saline Soil-Derived Fungus Aspergillus Sclerotiorum
Three new γ-hydroxyl butenolides (1−3), a pair of new enantiomeric spiro-butenolides (4a and 4b), a pair of enantiomeric cyclopentenones (5a new and 5b new natural), and six known compounds (6−11), were isolated from Aspergillus ...

Spiral Galaxies as Enantiomers: Chirality, an Underlying Feature in Chemistry and Astrophysics
Spiral galaxies are axi-symmetric objects showing 2D-chirality when projected onto a plane. Features in common with tetrahedral molecules are pointed out, in particular the existence of a preferred chiral modality for genetic galaxies as in aminoacids ...

A planar plasmonic metasurface composed of asymmetric gold nanostructures is shown to exhibit both anisotropic and chiral/pseudo‐chiral optical responses. By tailoring the polarization and angle of incidence, the metasurface significantly enhances optical chirality and enables enantiospecific detection.
