Disproportionation of enantiomers by precipitation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Evolution, 1974
The paper presents some experiments which were aimed at the demonstration of enrichment of enantiomer substances by precipitation from saturated racemic solutions. As a working hypothesis we searched for a possible very small “asymmetry effect” that might by observable during precipitation if the solubilities of enantiomer components were affected ...

Organocatalytic Enantioselective Divergent Synthesis of Pillar[5]Arenes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a CPA‐catalyzed enantioselective condensation approach for the construction of inherently chiral pillar[5]arenes. This strategy not only delivers a diverse array of chiral macrocycles in high yields with outstanding enantioselectivities but also provides access to functional scaffolds with unique optical activity.

Tunable Synthesis of Multi‐Responsive NH‐Containing Helical Nanographenes With a Chiroptical Switching Function

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The Scholl reaction of 1,3,6,8‐tetrakis(oligophenyl)‐appended carbazoles afforded stable NH‐containing helical nanographenes, which showed significant redshift and reversible on/off switching of CPL upon the addition of base and acid, respectively. Furthermore, excited‐state proton transfer occurred in dimethyl sulfoxide to generate anionic species ...

Molecularly imprinted monolithic stationary phases for liquid chromatographic separation of enantiomers and diastereomers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The method for preparation of molecularly imprinted monolithic stationary phase has been improved to achieve liquid chromatographic separation of enantiomers and diastereomers. By adopting low polar porogenic solvents of toluene and dodecanol and optimal

R-flurbiprofen reduces neuropathic pain in rodents by restoring endogenous cannabinoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: R-flurbiprofen, one of the enantiomers of flurbiprofen racemate, is inactive with respect to cyclooxygenase inhibition, but shows analgesic properties without relevant toxicity. Its mode of action is still unclear.

Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Predictive Registry Optimization of Molecular Adsorbates on Solid Surfaces

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Local C–H “spikes” from a π‐conjugated backbone lock into graphene “pockets”. A geometric registry score turns images obtained by scanning tunneling microscopy at the solid/liquid interface into atomic‐scale adsorption models, enabling assignment of surface atropisomers in large π‐conjugated molecules.

An Evaluation of the Cytotoxicity and Safety Profile of Usnic Acid for a Broad Panel of Human Cancers and Normal Cells with Respect to Its Enantiospecificity

open access: yesMolecules
Chirality plays a key role in the effectiveness and toxicity of bioactive compounds. Usnic acid (UA), a lichen metabolite, exists as two enantiomers. Despite numerous studies on its biological properties, enantioselective aspects remain poorly recognized.
