End-Effectors for Tomato Harvesting Robot
Artificial Intelligence Review, 1998Two types of robotic end-effectors capable of harvesting tomato fruits were manufactured based on the physical properties of tomato plant and tested. The first prototype end-effector consisted of two parallel plate fingers and a suction pad. The fingers pick a fruit off at the joint of its peduncle after the suction cup singulates it by vacuum from ...

The term “end effector” is a generic word for all the systems mounted at the end of the robot — that is, at the end of the link farthest from the robot base — whose task is to grip objects, or tools, and/or transfer them from place to place.

The End-Effector Device for Gait Rehabilitation
2018Today’s concepts of motor learning address the demand for adequate therapy solutions with a task-specific approach. Since the 1990s, robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) has become a promising approach, alongside conventional rehabilitation, for treating gait disturbances in patients with neurological disease. RAGT devices enable the patient to practice

An intelligent end-effector for a rehabilitation robot
Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology, 1989A UMI RTX robot, modified with limited end-effector sensors and a restricted but effective vision system, is currently used in a developmental education setting for severely physically disabled children. The low physical and cognitive abilities of the children involved in the project require a semi-autonomous robot with environmental sensing capability

‘End-effector’ is the name given to the gripper or ‘pick-up’ that holds the component being processed. Most robot applications involve only the manipulation of a component between the machines that do the processing. Sometimes it carries a tool instead, to work directly on a component — for example, in drilling, welding or paint spraying.

Optimal approach velocity of end-effector to the environment
Proceedings 1992 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 1993A method of generating an optimal approach velocity, to control the collision forces properly, of a manipulator to its environment is presented. Analysis of a contact motion shows the necessity of contact control not only after the collision, but also before it. Using a model of the force-controlled end-effector and its environment, forces generated at

A compliant end-effector for microscribing
Precision Engineering, 2005A new end-effector was designed and built for microscribing processes using principles of compliant mechanisms. Initial testing of a chemomechanical microscribing process showed that low forces produce lines that are significantly smoother, more uniform, and exhibit less material chipping.

Touching: robots and end effectors
Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2002Describes several special application robotic systems developed by Southwest Research Institute over the last ten years which use sensors of various types to interact with a workpiece. The touch sensing and control techniques are representative of relatively simple approaches for obtaining tactile information from an end effector for robot and end ...
