COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

End conditions for interpolatory quintic splines

open access: yes, 1980
Accurate end conditions are derived for quintic spline interpolation at equally spaced knots. These conditions are in terms of available function values at the knots and lead to 0(h6) covergence uniformly on the interval of ...

Numerical Vibration Analysis of Rectangular Beams for Different End Conditions

open access: yes, 2016
In this study the vibration behaviour of rectangular beams with different end conditions i.e. for simply supported and cantilever type is determined. This behaviour is estimated for two different materials namely aluminum (Al6063L) and mild steel (304L).

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

End-of-Life Issues and Support Needs of People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disability

open access: yes, 2022
Throughout life people with profound intellectual and multiple disability (PIMD) are likely to experience multiple complex and life-threatening conditions, creating a need for decision-making about end-of-life care and support.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Delivering Advance Care Planning Support at Scale: A Qualitative Interview Study in Twelve International Healthcare Organisations

open access: yesJournal of Long-Term Care, 2019
Context: Globally, populations are ageing, with people increasingly likely to die with chronic progressive illness. In this context, there is widespread interest in advance care planning (ACP), where people are supported to think about and express ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Soil Properties and their Influence on Grassland Production under Low Input and Organic Farming Conditions

open access: yes, 2006
End of project reportThis project set out to identify soil properties that most influence grassland production under low mineral nitrogen input conditions. Sixteen farms were selected in Counties Limerick and Clare and the soil sampled. Soil physical and
