Cathepsin K Aggravates Pulmonary Fibrosis Through Promoting Fibroblast Glutamine Metabolism and Collagen Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CTSK plays a critical role in pulmonary fibrosis. Excessive CTSK accumulation interacts with SNX9 to enhance TGF‐β1‐induced SMAD3 activation and GLS1 expression in fibroblasts, driving glutamine metabolism for collagen biosynthesis and exacerbating pulmonary fibrosis.

Role of Intermediate Filaments in Vesicular Traffic

open access: yesCells, 2016
Intermediate filaments are an important component of the cellular cytoskeleton. The first established role attributed to intermediate filaments was the mechanical support to cells.

Opioid regulation of Mu receptor internalisation: relevance to the development of tolerance and dependence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Internalisation of the mu opioid receptor from the surface of cells is generally achieved by receptor occupancy with agonist ligands of high efficacy. However, in many situations the potent analgesic morphine fails to promote internalisation effectively ...

Tumor Extracellular Vesicles Aggravate Mitochondrial Damage in Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel mechanistic connection between cancer and ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)‐induced cardiac injury. The meta‐analysis demonstrates significantly higher incidence ratios of both all‐cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality in cancer patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared to non‐cancer patients.

An early secretory pathway mediated by GNOM-LIKE 1 and GNOM is essential for basal polarity establishment in Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Spatial regulation of the plant hormone indole-3-acetic acid (IAA, or auxin) is essential for plant development. Auxin gradient establishment is mediated by polarly localized auxin transporters, including PIN-FORMED (PIN) proteins. Their localization and

Vacuolar ATPase depletion contributes to dysregulation of endocytosis in bloodstream forms of Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND Vacuolar H-ATPase (V-ATPase) is a highly conserved protein complex which hydrolyzes ATP and pumps protons to acidify vacuolar vesicles.

Carrier‐Free Nanocapsule with Dual‐Target Capacity for Synergistically Restoring Inflammatory Microenvironment and Microbiota Dysbiosis in Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This manuscript presents a carrier‐free nanomedicine PCNPs@PEG‐Man with dual‐targeting for IBD. It resists harsh intestinal conditions, reduces oxidative stress, enhances drug uptake and retention, modulates inflammation, and reshapes gut microbiota, offering a safe and effective IBD therapy.

Diabetic nephropathy, autophagy and proximal tubule protein endocytic transport: A potentially harmful relationship [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most frequent cause of chronic renal failure. Until now, the pathophysiological mechanisms that determine its development and progression have not yet been elucidated.

Unlocking the potential of anti-CD33 therapy in adult and childhood acute myeloid leukaemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) develops when there is a block in differentiation and uncontrolled proliferation of myeloid precursors, resulting in bone marrow failure.

Topological Scaffold‐Based Trispecific Recombinant Protein‐Drug Conjugates for Solid Tumor Eradication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel tri‐specific recombinant protein and its drug conjugate are developed, named sRP‐EHI and sRPDC‐EHI, which feature a star‐shaped topological structure. It can simultaneously bind the EGFR, HER2, and integrin αvβ3 overexpressed in cancer cells.
