Independent organelle and organelle—organelle interactions: essential mechanisms for malignant gynecological cancer cell survival

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Different eukaryotic cell organelles (e.g., mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, lysosome) are involved in various cancer processes, by dominating specific cellular activities.

Mitochondrial Dynamics at the Interface of Immune Cell Metabolism and Function

open access: yes, 2018
Immune cell differentiation and function are crucially dependent on specific metabolic programs dictated by mitochondria, including the generation of ATP from the oxidation of nutrients and supplying precursors for the synthesis of macromolecules and ...

Overexpression of mitofusin 2 ameliorates inflammation and oxidative stress in lipopolysaccharide‐induced mastitis model by regulating phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The interaction between mitofusin 2 (MFN2) and phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2 regulates the formation of mitochondria‐associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAM). Overexpression of MFN2 can promote the formation of MAMs and inhibit inflammation and oxidative stress response in mammary epithelial cells.

Excessive ER-phagy mediated by FAM134B contributes to trophoblast cell mitochondrial dysfunction in preeclampsia

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica
Autophagy dysregulation and Ca 2+-induced mitochondrial dysfunction in trophoblast cells are proposed to contribute to preeclampsia (PE) development. FAM134B is identified as a receptor associated with endoplasmic reticulum autophagy (

The Role of miRNAs in Chicken Immune Regulation and Prospects for Disease‐Resistant Breeding

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A schematic workflow illustrating the screening of disease‐resistant miRNAs and the generation of miRNA‐based disease‐resistant chickens via PGC‐mediated germline genome editing. ABSTRACT MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators of the immune system, playing a decisive role in shaping disease resistance in chicken.

Biomaterial design strategies for enhancing mitochondrial transplantation therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Biomaterials to facilitate mitochondrial transplantation therapy: biomaterials as barriers to protect mitochondria from pathophysiological microenvironments, like osmotic stress caused by the excessive concentration of calcium ion, reactive oxygen species, and advanced glycation end products; biomaterials integrating with biochemical cues to improve ...

Unfolded protein response in endoplasmic reticulum stress associated with retinal degenerative diseases: A promising therapeutic target

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
The unfolded protein response is a cellular pathway activated to maintain proteostasis and prevent cell death when the endoplasmic reticulum is overwhelmed by unfolded proteins.
