Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

This graphical abstract illustrates the dynamic bidirectional crosstalk between microRNA biogenesis and autophagy, which serves as a critical regulatory axis in cardiovascular homeostasis. We highlight how specific miRNAs modulate autophagic flux to mitigate vascular inflammation and plaque instability, while concurrently, the autophagic machinery ...

ABSTRACT Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype of breast cancer characterized by high metastatic potential, poor prognosis, and limited effective therapeutic options. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the anticancer effects of the nucleolin (NCL)‐targeting DNA aptamer AS1411 using label‐free ...

β-microglobulin amyloid fibril-induced membrane disruption is enhanced by endosomal lipids and acidic pH [PDF]
Although the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathology of amyloidoses are not well understood, the interaction between amyloid proteins and cell membranes is thought to play a role in several amyloid diseases. Amyloid fibrils of β-microglobulin (βm),

MAPK Signaling in the Interplay Between Oxidative Stress and Autophagy
The term autophagy identifies several mechanisms that mediate the degradation of intracellular and extracellular components via the lysosomal pathway. Three main forms of autophagy exist, namely macroautophagy, chaperone-mediated autophagy, and endosomal

The Dual Role of Autophagy in Cancer: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies
Autophagy is a conserved cellular process degrading dysfunctional organelles and protein aggregates to maintain cell homeostasis, and it exhibits context‐dependent duality in cancer. Autophagy functions as a critical tumor‐suppressive mechanism by preventing DNA damage and mutation during tumor initiation.

ESCRT: A Cellular Nexus of Plant Immunity and Pathogen Counter‐Strategies
The endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) plays multifaceted roles in plants' responses to pathogens, including regulation of the localization and fate of immune receptors and other related cellular processes. ABSTRACT The endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) machinery consists of multiprotein complexes conserved ...

This study identifies vacuole membrane protein 1 (VMP1) as a critical regulator of intestinal epithelial barrier homeostasis. VMP1 facilitates the recruitment of CORO1C to late endosomes, supporting Retromer‐mediated recycling of the tight junction protein Occludin.

Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive, age‐related, neurodegenerative disorder marked by cognitive decline, memory loss, and accumulation of amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques and tau tangles. A key feature of AD is impaired protein homeostasis, often driven by autophagy dysfunction.
