ABSTRACT Over the years, numerous D‐ and z‐values have been published in the scientific literature. While these values initially appear to be valid criteria for assessing and comparing the heat resistance of different microorganisms under the same conditions or the same microorganism under different conditions, this is not always the case.

Biotoxicity of Mars Analog Soils: Microbial, Dispersal into Desiccated Soils Versus Emplacement in Salt or Ice Inclusions Fluids [PDF]
Recent evidence from the Opportunity and Spirit rovers and the Mars Express mission suggests that the soils on Mars might be very high in biotoxic materials including sulfate salts, chlorides, and acidifying agents.

The increasing use of polylactic acid (PLA) for single‐use packaging has led to a growing accumulation of bioplastic waste. This study presents a comprehensive approach for enhancing the degradation of postconsumer PLA packaging waste, beginning with the isolation, screening, and identification of highly effective bacteria and culminating in the ...

Improving Dispersion of Bacterial Endospores for Enumeration
Precise enumeration of spores is crucial for accurate evaluation of spore survival in the presence of inactivating agents or extreme environmental conditions. Bacterial endospores tend to agglomerate, leading to low estimates of spore numbers.
