Endothelial nitric oxide synthase and endothelial dysfunction

Current Hypertension Reports, 2003
Nitric oxide (NO) regulates vascular tone and local blood flow, platelet aggregation and adhesion, and leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions. Abnormalities in NO production by the vascular endothelium result in endothelial dysfunction, which occurs in hypertension, diabetes, aging, and as a prelude to atherosclerosis.

Endothelial Cells

2017
Endothelial cells are a constitutive part of the heart and vasculature and form a crucial link between the cardiovascular system and the immune system. Besides their commonly accepted roles in angiogenesis, hemostasis, and the regulation of vascular tone, they are an essential and active component of immune responses.

Endothelial Handling of Chromogranin A

2005
The present study is the first to address the question of interaction between CGA and endothelial cells. It is evident that neither intact CGA nor N-terminal peptides activate endothelial cells by affecting the membrane potential. Nevertheless, bovine aorta endothelial cells (BAEC) bind and intemalise intact CGA in a temperature-dependent manner, and ...

Endothelial function testing

2006
It has been shown that the presence of well-preserved brachial artery vasoreactivity predicts the absence of coronary artery disease. The recent findings that coronary endothelial dysfunction is associated with an increased risk of stroke or transient ischemic attack in middle-aged patients without coronary artery disease support the concept that ...
