Bacterial Endotoxin Testing—Fast Endotoxin Masking Kinetics in the Presence of Lauryldimethylamine Oxide

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
For release of parenteral drug products, bacterial endotoxin testing is one of a panel of necessary tests. In order to ensure the validity of such tests, various controls are performed, including demonstration of compendial method suitability or method ...

Is there NO treatment for severe sepsis? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome in the presence of suspected or proven infection, and it may progress to or encompass organ failure (severe sepsis) and hypotension (septic shock).

Systemic inflammatory response to inhaled endotoxin does not correlate with airway response

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2019
Background Endotoxin is a component of particulate matter linked to respiratory disease. Our group has shown that experimental endotoxin inhalation challenge reproducibly triggers neutrophilic inflammation in the airways and in peripheral blood.

Seasonal Changes in Endotoxin Exposure and Its Relationship to Exhaled Nitric Oxide and Exhaled Breath Condensate pH Levels in Atopic and Healthy Children. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Endotoxin, a component of the cell walls of gram-negative bacteria, is a contaminant in organic dusts (house dust) and aerosols. In humans, small amounts of endotoxin may cause a local inflammatory response.

Flow and filtration imaging of single use sterile membrane filters

open access: yes, 2018
Sterile filters incorporating endotoxin adsorption function emerged recently to pretreat dialysate liquids fed to a hemodialysis filtration process. Their application significantly enhances the survival rate during dialysis treatment as they function as ...

Consequences of the Lack of IL-10 in Different Endotoxin Effects and its Relationship With Glucocorticoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Sepsis constitutes one of the major causes of death in ICUs. In sepsis induced by gram-negative, although lipopolysaccharide (LPS) initially induces an exacerbated secretion of proinflammatory cytokines leading to endotoxic shock and death resembling a ...

Endotoxin Tolerance Induced by Detoxified Endotoxin (Endotoxoid)

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1968
SummaryNonspecific tolerance towards the lethal action of endotoxins from different gram-negative bacteria can be induced within 24 hours by a single injection of S. marcescens endotoxoid. This endotoxin tolerance is not based on circulating antibodies.

Effect of Escherichia coli endotoxin on Archachatina marginata haemolymph coagulation system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The effect of _E. coli_ endotoxin on the heamolymph coagulation response of _Archachatina marginata_ was studied. Heamocyte Lysate(HL), Haemocyte Lysate Supernatant(HLS) and Haemocyte Lysate Debris (HLD) were exposed to _Escherichia coli_ endotoxin ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
