Scaling of gain with energy spread and energy in the PEP FEL [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The Sag Harbor paper on the PEP FEL discusses the scaling of various FEL parameters with energy spread {sigma}{sub {var_epsilon}}. I will repeat some of this material here and then examine the benefit of increasing the energy spread. How much energy spread can be achieved with damping wigglers is the next topic.

Dissipation as a mechanism of energy gain [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2008
Some properties of the annular billiard under the presence of weak dissipation are studied. We show, in a dissipative system, that the average energy of a particle acquires higher values than its average energy of the conservative case. The creation of attractors, associated with a chaotic dynamics in the conservative regime, both in appropriated ...

Influence of water based binary composite nanofluids on thermal performance of solar thermal technologies: sustainability assessments

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2023
Recent technological advances have made it possible to produce particles with nanometer dimensions that are uniformly and steadily suspended in traditional solar liquids and have enhanced the impact of thermo-physical parameters.

Plasma Wave Acceleration of Electron in Bubble Regime in Presence of a Planar Wiggler [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2020
The plasma wave acceleration of electron in the bubble regime is investigated in a new configuration containing a planar wiggler. The space-charge field of the laser-created ion channel can focuse and stabilize the electron trajectory to guide it toward ...

Energy gain induced by boundary crisis [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2011
We consider a nonlinear system and show the unexpected and surprising result that, even for high dissipation, the mean energy of a particle can attain higher values than when there is no dissipation in the system. We reconsider the time-dependent annular billiard in the presence of inelastic collisions with the boundaries.

Energy loss versus energy gain of heavy quarks in a hot medium [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2021
We study the energy loss and the energy gain of heavy quarks in a hot thermal medium. These include the study of the energy change due to the polarization and to the interaction with the thermal fluctuations of the medium. The dynamics of the heavy quarks with the medium is described by the Wong equations, that allow for the inclusion of both the ...

Weight gain and dietary intake during pregnancy in industrialized countries - a systematic review of observational studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: Gestational weight gain (GWG) above the recently recommended ranges is likely to be related to adverse pregnancy outcomes and therefore a challenge in industrialized countries.
