Energy-Efficiency Gains of Caching for Interference Channels

open access: yesIEEE Communications Letters, 2018
This paper initiates the study of energy-efficiency gains provided by caching. We focus on the cache-aided Gaussian interference channel in the low-SNR regime. We propose a strategy that creates content overlaps at the transmitter caches to allow for co-operation between the transmitters.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Learning networks as an enabler for informed decisions to target energy-efficiency potentials in companies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
his paper deals with possibilities of targeting energy efficiency potentials in German companies by delivering information and support within a cooperative management system “Learning Energy Efficiency Networks” (LEEN).

Dissociation energies of the Ga2, In2, and GaIn molecules

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 1998
The group III metal dimers Ga2 and In2 and the newly identified intermetallic molecule GaIn were investigated in a Knudsen cell-mass spectrometric study of the vapors over gallium–indium alloys. From the all-gas equilibria analyzed by the second-law and third-law methods the following dissociation energies were derived; D00 (Ga2)=110.8±4.9 kJ mol−1 ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Work and energy gain of heat-pumped quantized amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate heat-pumped single-mode amplifiers of quantized fields in high-Q cavities based on noninverted two-level systems. Their power generation is shown to crucially depend on the capacity of the quantum state of the field to accumulate useful ...

A new interleaved ultra‐large gain converter for sustainable energy systems

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, 2021
By inserting the secondary windings of the coupled inductors in series with the primary of the built‐in transformer at the middle branch, a new concept is introduced for achieving ultra large voltage gain. The secondary and tertiary windings of the built‐

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Net requirements of energy, protein and macrominerals for weight gain of grazing beef cattle castrated at different ages, with and without supplementation

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2012
The objective of this experiment was to estimate the requirements of energy, protein and macrominerals of grazing crossbreds calves, in Brachiaria decumbens Stapf pasture, castrated at different ages, with and without supplementation.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
