The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Development of city buildings dataset for urban building energy modeling

open access: yesEnergy and Buildings, 2019
Urban building energy modeling (UBEM) is becoming a proven tool to support energy efficiency programs for buildings in cities. Development of a city-scale dataset of the existing building stock is a critical step of UBEM to automatically generate energy ...

Effect of endplates and aspect ratio on performance of a Savonius wind turbine [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Wind energy plays a vital role in the current move towards sustainable and clean energy sources, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Research into turbine geometry has revealed significant effects on performance and efficiency.

NULL ENERGY CONDITION AND DARK ENERGY MODELS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2008
Null Energy Condition (NEC) requires the equation of state (EoS) of the universe wu satisfy wu ≥ -1, which implies, for instance in a universe with matter and dark energy dominating wu = w m Ω m + w de Ω de = w de Ω de ≥ -1. In this paper we study constraints on the dark energy models from the requirement of the NEC.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Palm Oil Biodiesel Blends on Emissions and Performance of a Diesel Electric Generator [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
This experimental investigation assesses the operational performance and exhaust emissions of a diesel generator fueled by biodiesel derived from palm oil at three different blend ratios: B0 (pure diesel), B25 (25% biodiesel blend), and B50 (50 ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Experimental study of temperature effects on the photovoltaic solar panels performances in Algerian desert

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energetica, 2022
Photovoltaic panels are operated in the Algerian desert areas under high temperatures, especially, in the summer, when the temperature may be reached 70°C on the panel's surface.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
