Comparative study of materials for proton exchange membrane fuel cells bipolar plates: Electrical performance, durability, and automotive compatibility [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Bipolar plates are essential components of proton exchange membrane fuel cells because they contribute to current transport, reactant flow distribution, heat dissipation, and overall stack durability.

UCB-SEnMod: A Model for Analyzing Future Energy Systems with 100% Renewable Energy Technologies—Methodology

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
While the contribution of renewable energy technologies to the energy system is increasing, so is its level of complexity. In addition to new types of consumer systems, the future system will be characterized by volatile generation plants that will ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Colombia’s GHG Emissions Reduction Scenario: Complete Representation of the Energy and Non-Energy Sectors in LEAP

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
The signatory countries of the Paris Agreement must submit their updated Intended National Determined Contributions (INDCs) to the UNFCCC secretariat every five years. In Colombia, this activity was historically carried out with a wide set of diverse non-

Energy Models for Graph Clustering

open access: yesJournal of Graph Algorithms and Applications, 2007
Summary: The cluster structure of many real-world graphs is of great interest, as the clusters may correspond e.g. to communities in social networks or to cohesive modules in software systems. Layouts can naturally represent the cluster structure of graphs by grouping densely connected nodes and separating sparsely connected nodes.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Computational strategies for unraveling insights from known inhibitors for further lead optimization: A case study on Celecoxib analogues

open access: yesScientific Reports
Inhibition of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) represents a well-established and promising strategy in the development of anti-inflammatory drugs, given its pivotal role in mediating inflammation. Selective inhibition of COX-2 over COX-1 is critical for reducing

Numerical Simulation of Laminar Flow and Heat Transfer of Waxy Oil with Yield Stress in a Pipe with Sudden Enlargement

open access: yesEngineered Science
This study investigates the non-isothermal laminar flow and heat transfer of waxy oil in a pipe with a sudden enlargement, emphasizing its transition from a Newtonian to a viscoplastic state during cooling.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
