Energy release rate based dynamic crack propagation

open access: yes, 2014
An energy release rate based simulation method for dynamic fracture mechanics is developed to model crack initiation and propagation in elastic–plastic solid. Potential crack surface is modeled by a series of paired nodes bonded together by nodal constraint forces before crack propagation.

Geometrically nonlinear analysis of adhesively bonded joints [PDF]

open access: yes
A geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis of cohesive failure in typical joints is presented. Cracked-lap-shear joints were chosen for analysis.

Lengthwise Crack Study of a Beam with Non-Linear Creep

open access: yesEngineering Transactions
An analytical study of the strain energy release rate for an inhomogeneous beam structure with a lengthwise crack subjected to non-linear creep is developed. The beam is inhomogeneous along its length.

Is the galactic corona produced by galactic flares? [PDF]

open access: yes
The effect of the differential rotation of the disk of the Galaxy on magnetic field which penetrates the disk is considered. The magnetic field will be progressively distorted from a potential (current-free) form and will at some stage become unstable ...

Nuclear kinetic energy spectra of D_2^+ in intense laser field: Beyond Born Oppenheimer approximation

open access: yes, 2008
Simultaneously, the vibrational nuclear dynamics and full dimensional electronic dynamics of the deuterium molecular ion exposed to the linear polarized intense laser field are studied.

A similarity criterion for forest growth curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Comparison of forest growth curves has led many to the conclusion that there is a similarity between forest stands growing in different conditions. Here we treat the same subject from the viewpoint of similarity theory.

Interlaminar fracture toughness: Three-dimensional finite element modeling for end-notch and mixed-mode flexure [PDF]

open access: yes
A computational procedure is described for evaluating End-Notch-Flexure (ENF) and Mixed-Mode-Flexure (MMF) interlaminar fracture toughness in unidirectional fiber composites.
