Strain burst vulnerability criterion based on energy-release rate
Violent rock failures such as strain burst are significant issues during excavations in rock mass under the influence of high stress and temperature. Triggering mechanism of strain burst is associated with the intrinsic rock properties, e.g.

The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Wood Welded Connections: Energy Release Rate Measurement
The energy release rates of beech specimens bonded by linear friction welding were determined using double cantilever beam (DCB) tests. The analysis of the results was carried out with the experimental compliance method, which is based on the linear ...

Introduction: When an intraocular lens (IOL) injector is inserted through a pre-cut corneal incision (e.g., an empirical size of 2.2 mm) during small incision cataract surgery, uncontrollable tearing to the corneal tissue may occur, which is highly ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Young’s Modulus and Hardness Identification of Extruded Aluminum by Scratching Damper
A special vibration damper is proposed for Young’s modulus and hardness identification through a scratching process on extruded aluminum. This paper presents the design and working principle of a scratching damper based on a scratching device.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics
