Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Community Flexible Load Dispatching Model Based on Herd Mentality

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In the context of smart electricity consumption, demand response is an important way to solve the problem of power supply and demand balance. Users participate in grid dispatching to obtain additional benefits, which realises a win-win situation between ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Research on future trends of electricity consumption based on conditional generative adversarial network considering dual‐carbon target

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration
The emergence of novel factors, such as the energy Internet and electricity supply‐side reform within the context of the dual‐carbon target (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality), has heightened the uncertainty surrounding electricity consumption (EC ...

A new design for the CERN-Fr\'ejus neutrino Super Beam

open access: yes, 2011
We present an optimization of the hadron focusing system for a low-energy high-intensity conventional neutrino beam (Super-Beam) proposed on the basis of the HP-SPL at CERN with a beam power of 4 MW and an energy of 4.5 GeV.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Graph convolutional network-based security-constrained unit commitment leveraging power grid topology in learning

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
Security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC) is a complex optimization problem in power system operation, which is computationally intensive. To bring significant time-savings, this paper presents a graph convolutional network (GCN)-based SCUC approach ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Improved Multi-Grained Cascade Forest Model for Transformer Fault Diagnosis

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is an effective online fault diagnosis technique for large oil-immersed transformers. However, due to the limited number of DGA data, most deep learning models will be overfitted and the classification accuracy cannot be ...
