Revisiting daily age determination in juvenile anchoveta Engraulis ringens
Marine and Freshwater Research, 2019Recent studies using otolith microstructure analysis have suggested that the duration of the juvenile stage in anchoveta (Engraulis ringens) is shorter than previously suspected, which suggests that the ages being entered into the traditional age-based stock assessment are incorrect.

Spawning marker patterns of Engraulis ringens of northern Chile
Fisheries Research, 2019Abstract The procedures used to estimate the daily spawning fraction of northern Chile anchovy (Engraulis ringens) have been revised based on information from 17 Daily Egg Production Method (DEPM) survey estimates of the anchovy spawning biomass. The most commonly used spawning marker is postovulatory follicles (POFs). POFs are transitory remnants of

The spawning habitat of the Peruvian anchovy, Engraulis ringens
Deep Sea Research Part A. Oceanographic Research Papers, 1980Individual larvae of the anchovy Engraulis ringens appear to survive better off the northern coast of Peru during the austral winter season when a motile algal food supply is available. Concentrations of the dinoflagellate food of the first feeding anchovy larvae may be reduced less often by wind events in the north than in the south.

A New Developmental Toxicity Test for Pelagic Fish Using Anchoveta (Engraulis ringens J.)
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2009A series of six 96-h static bioassays were performed to validate the use of anchoveta (Engraulis ringens) embryos as test organisms for ecotoxicological studies. The standardization protocol utilized potassium dichromate (K(2)Cr(2)O(7)) as a reference toxicant and egg mortality as the endpoint.

Food of the Larval Anchoveta Engraulis ringens J.
1974The Peruvian fisheries have developed very quickly during the last ten years, resulting in Peru becoming the foremost fishing country in the world. The fishery is largely based on the anchoveta Engraulis vingens J., a pelagic fish sufficiently abundant to support catches of up to 10 × 106, tons, although 12,000,000 T.M. were taken in 1970.

Climatic regimes and the recruitment rate of anchoveta, Engraulis ringens, off Peru
Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, 2009Abstract The recruitment rate of Peruvian anchoveta, Engraulis ringens, was studied to test the hypothesis that long-term environmental variation (regime shifts) had a significant impact on density-dependent processes governing the anchovy recruitment during the period 1963–2004.
