Image-based localization with depth-enhanced image map

2003 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.03CH37422), 2004
In this paper, we present an image-based robot incremental localization algorithm which uses a panoramic image-based map enhanced with depth from a laser range finder. The image-based map (model) contains both intensity information as well as sparse 3D geometric features. By assuming motion continuity, a robot can use the depth information in the image-

Robust enhancement of depth images from Kinect sensor

2015 IEEE Virtual Reality (VR), 2015
We propose a new method to fill missing or invalid values in depth images generated from the Kinect depth sensor. To fill the missing depth values, we use a robust least median of squares (LMedS) approach. We apply our method for telepresence environments, where Kinects are used very often for reconstructing the captured scene in 3D.

Enhanced Depth Imaging Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2008
To describe a method to obtain images of the choroid using conventional spectral-domain (SD) optical coherence tomography (OCT) and to evaluate choroidal thickness measurements using these images.Observational case series. The images were obtained by positioning the SD OCT device close enough to the eye to obtain an inverted representation of the fundus

Depth Image Enhancement Algorithm Based on RGB Image Fusion

2018 11th International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Design (ISCID), 2018
Considering the problem that large amount of structural defects in the depth image captured by Kinect2 decreased the accuracy of object detection and recognition. This paper proposed a depth image enhancement algorithm that fused RGB image information. Firstly, a synchronized RGB image was introduced and aligned with the depth image. Secondly, based on

Depth image enhancement algorithm for preserving boundary

Journal of Applied Optics, 2018
The drawback of current depth image enhancement algorithms is poor performance of edge preserving. To solve this drawback, the gradient mask guided joint filtering(GMGJF)algorithm is proposed. The Sobel gradient transform is used to obtain the boundary direction information, and the hole region of the depth images was utilized to generate the hole mask.

Learning Dynamic Guidance for Depth Image Enhancement

2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2017
The depth images acquired by consumer depth sensors (e.g., Kinect and ToF) usually are of low resolution and insufficient quality. One natural solution is to incorporate with high resolution RGB camera for exploiting their statistical correlation.

Depth Estimation Based Underwater Image Enhancement

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
According to the image formation model and the nature of underwater images, we find that the effect of the haze and the color distortion seriously pollute the underwater image data, lowing the quality of the underwater images in the visibility and the quality of the data.

Depth image enhancement using perceptual texture priors

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
A depth camera is widely used in various applications because it provides a depth image of the scene in real time. However, due to the limited power consumption, the depth camera presents severe noises, incapable of providing the high quality 3D data. Although the smoothness prior is often employed to subside the depth noise, it discards the geometric ...
