Pattern image enhancement by extended depth of field
Microelectronics Reliability, 2014Abstract Most optical defect localization techniques such as dynamic laser stimulation or photon emission microscopy require a pattern image of the device to be taken. The main purpose is for device navigation, but it also enables the analyst to identify the location of the monitored activity by superimposing it onto the pattern image.

Depth Image Enhancement Algorithm Based on RGB Image Fusion
2018 11th International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Design (ISCID), 2018Considering the problem that large amount of structural defects in the depth image captured by Kinect2 decreased the accuracy of object detection and recognition. This paper proposed a depth image enhancement algorithm that fused RGB image information. Firstly, a synchronized RGB image was introduced and aligned with the depth image. Secondly, based on

Enhancing perceived depth in images via artistic matting
Proceedings of the 1st Symposium on Applied perception in graphics and visualization, 2004We present a simple tutorial for the addition of artistic mattes to digital images for the purpose of enhancing the three-dimensional effect of the image. We show that artistic mattes add visual cues to an image enhancing the sense of depth in the image.

Robust enhancement of depth images from Kinect sensor
2015 IEEE Virtual Reality (VR), 2015We propose a new method to fill missing or invalid values in depth images generated from the Kinect depth sensor. To fill the missing depth values, we use a robust least median of squares (LMedS) approach. We apply our method for telepresence environments, where Kinects are used very often for reconstructing the captured scene in 3D.

Resolution enhancement in single depth map and aligned image
2016 IEEE Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV), 2016Depth resolution enhancement aims to recover a high quality depth map from one or multiple low-resolution depth input(s) with missing pixels. While a registered high-resolution intensity image is often utilized to assist, little attention has been paid to the circumstances when there is only one pair of low-resolution depth map and aligned intensity ...

Depth Image Enhancement and Detection on NSCT and Fractional Differential
Wireless Personal Communications, 2018For enhancing the low contrast and detecting the noise in depth image from Kinect sensor, the Non-Subsampled Contourlet Transform (NSCT) and non-linear fractional differential are studied in this paper. Firstly, on the basis of the NSCT’s advantages, the depth image is decomposed into low frequency and high frequency.

Enhancing view synthesis with image and depth map upsampling
2017 International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing (IWSSIP), 2017In the paper we present a method for increasing the quality of views synthesized with typical Depth-Image-Based Rendering (DIBR) view synthesis algorithms. In the proposed idea the resolution of input real views and corresponding depth maps is doubled before the view synthesis.

Depth Enhancement and Optimization for Stereo Images Based on JNDD
2018 11th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (CISP-BMEI), 2018With rapid progress of three-dimensional television and 3D film industry, stereoscopic technology has become an increasingly important aspect of image technology in recent years. Therefore, in this paper, processing of stereo images is mainly focused on. Based on this new Just Noticeable Depth Difference (JNDD) model, a Modified Local Depth Enhancement

A CNN cascade for quality enhancement of compressed depth images
2017 IEEE Visual Communications and Image Processing (VCIP), 2017Transmitting depth images along with the corresponding textures enables a wide range of receiver-side 3D applications. Since each pixel on the depth images represents a corresponding 3D scene geometric information, when compressed during transmission the compression artifacts will lead to severe geometry distortions and visual perceptual degradation ...

Time-of-flight image enhancement for depth map generation
2016 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA), 2016Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras are easily accessible in this era. They capture real distances of objects in a controlled environment. Yet, the ToF image may include disconnected boundaries between objects. In addition, certain objects are not capable of reflecting the infrared ray such as black hair. Such problems are caused by the physics of ToF.
