Enhanced pyroelectric effect through product property and its applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Pyroelectric materials have the ability to generate electrical response when they experience a thermal stimulus. This has lead to their deployment in applications such as Infra-Red detectors/sensors, energy harvesting, and ferroelectric electron ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Electrical Conductivity Enhancement and Electronic Applications of 2D Ti3C2Tx MXene Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, 2021
In the past 10 years, MXene (transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides), a 2D nanomaterial, has become one of the research hotspots with its hydrophilic ends, solution machinability, and excellent electronic, mechanical, and optical ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Luminescence enhancement from Si-based materials by introducing a photonic crystal double-heterostructure slot waveguide microcavity

open access: yes, 2011
We demonstrate a novel SOI-based photonic crystal(PC) double-heterostructure slot waveguide microcavity constructed by cascading three PC slot waveguides with different slot widths, and simulate the luminescence enhancement of sol-gel Erdoped SiO2 filled

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Capacitance enhancement by ion-laminated borophene-like layered materials

open access: yesNature Communications
Atomically flat two-dimensional networks of boron are attracting attention as post-graphene materials. An introduction of cations between the boron atomic layers can exhibit unique electronic functions that are not achieved by neutral graphene or its ...
