Mass Spectrometry-based Structural Proteomics: Methodology and Application of Fast Photochemical Oxidation of Proteins (FPOP) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The dissertation will be solely focused on using mass spectrometry to characterize protein high order structures (HOS), it emphasizes the use of hydroxyl radical footprinting (FPOP) coupled to bottom-up MS approach.

Innate Immune Cell Regulation of Metabolic Homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Obesity is an increasingly prevalent disease regulated by genetic and environmental factors. Emerging studies indicate that immune cells, including monocytes, granulocytes and lymphocytes, regulate metabolic homeostasis and are dysregulated in obesity ...

Carbon turnover in the water-soluble protein of the adult human lens. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
PurposeHuman eye lenses contain cells that persist from embryonic development. These unique, highly specialized fiber cells located at the core (nucleus) of the lens undergo pseudo-apoptosis to become devoid of cell nuclei and most organelles. Ostensibly

Prediction of Peptide Conformation by Multicanonical Algorithm: A New Approach to the Multiple-Minima Problem [PDF]

open access: yesJ.Comput.Chem. 14 (1993) 1333-1338, 1993
We apply a recently developed method, multicanonical algorithm, to the problem of tertiary structure prediction of peptides and proteins. As a simple example to test the effectiveness of the algorithm, Met-enkephalin is studied and the ergodicity problem, or multiple-minima problem, is shown to be overcome by this algorithm.

Role of CD10 in the Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer to the Liver. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
CD10 is a widely expressed endopeptidase that is present in human colorectal cancer (CRC), which shows a high frequency of liver metastasis. CD10 expression in CRC cells is associated with liver metastasis in rodent models, and CD10 expression enhances ...

Biochemical and pharmacological studies of the metabolism of dynorphin 1-8 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The metabolism of the opioid peptide [3H]dynorphin 1-8 by slices of central nervous system (c.n.s.) and peripheral tissues, from the rat and guinea-pig has been studied.

Placenta ingestion by rats enhances d- and k-opioid antinociception, but suppresses m-opioid antinociception [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Ingestion of placenta or amniotic fluid produces a dramatic enhancement of centrally mediated opioid antinociception in the rat. The present experiments investigated the role of each opioid receptor type (m, d, k) in the antinociception-modulating ...
