Developing emission factors for dairy cow enteric fermentation in Korea

open access: yesJournal of Cleaner Production, 2018
Abstract We developed emission factors for dairy cow enteric fermentation in Korea, along with their uncertainties. A total of 30 dairy cow farms were randomly chosen from the 3500 possible farms, then data on the number of heads, their body weights, the amount of feed intake, and the feed composition were collected.

Developing Country-Specific Methane Emission Factors and Carbon Fluxes from Enteric Fermentation in South Korean Dairy Cattle Production

open access: yesSustainability, 2021
Dairy cattle farming contributes significantly to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through methane (CH4) from enteric fermentation. To complement global efforts to mitigate climate change, there is a need for accurate estimations of GHG emissions using ...

Provincial cattle carbon emissions from enteric fermentation and manure management in South Africa

Environmental Research, 2021
Livestock is a major producer of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in South Africa. Cattle methane (CH4) from enteric fermentation is the main source of the emissions. However, due to shortage of information to guide agricultural mitigation plans in the country, the main objective of this study is to investigate causal factors of the emissions from

Isolation of enteric pathogens in the fermentation process of Kimchi (Korean fermented vegetables) and its radicidation by gamma irradiation

Food Control, 2004
Abstract The isolation of enteric bacteria in the fermentation process of Kimchi and its radicidation by gamma irradiation were investigated. Viable cell numbers of enteric bacteria were 104 CFU g−1 at the initiation of the Kimchi fermentation process, gradually reducing during the fermentation period, and not detected after 10 days.

Survival of bacterial enteric pathogens in traditional fermented foods

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1992
The survival of strains of bacterial enteric pathogens was investigated in two traditional fermented foods (mahewu and sour porridge) and in unfermented porridge. The foods were inoculated with cell suspensions of Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, Aeromonas species and pathogenic

Luminal Fermentation and Colonocyte Metabolism in a Rat Model of Enteral Nutrition

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2003
Large intestinal fermentation and nutrient metabolism in colonocytes were investigated in a rat model of enteral feeding. Male Wistar rats (240-280 g) were submitted to 7 or 14 days of treatment: intragastric feeding (elemental formula) versus oral feeding (isocaloric and isonitrogenous diet, containing 5% purified cellulose) in the control group ...
