Folate‐Containing Fermented Foods of Plant and Animal Origin: The Value of Traditional Foods to Tackle Folate Deficiency

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Traditional fermented foods consumed around the world are natural sources of folate. Certain microbes, particularly Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, enhance folate production during the fermentation process, making fermented foods a promising dietary approach to improve folate status and help prevent folate deficiency.

Gut Microbiome Communities Vary Across Translocated Populations of the Seychelles Warbler

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Conservation translocations are an increasingly common tool used to help combat species extinction but their success is dependent on a wide range of abiotic and biotic factors. To date, the potential role of host‐associated microbiomes in translocation success has been overlooked despite their fundamental contribution to host health and fitness.

STUDY OF THE MICROBIOLOGICAL HAZARDS IN THE PRODUTION OF THE MOZZARELLA BUFFALO CHEESE

open access: yesItalian Journal of Food Safety, 2009
Water Buffalo Mozzarella is a typical Italian product certificated with the European Protected Designation of Origin (DOP). Cheese-associated food poisoning outbreaks have been reported worldwide but are not common if pasteurised milk is used and ...

Identification of mucin degraders of the human gut microbiota

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Mucins are large glycoproteins consisting of approximately 80% of hetero-oligosaccharides. Gut mucin degraders of healthy subjects were investigated, through a culture dependent and independent approach.

DETERMINATION OF THE SPECTRUM OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE GENES HAVE PHENOTYPIC RESISTANT STRAINS OF PARIETAL INTESTINAL MICROBIOTA IN RATS BY RT-PCR [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Mechnikov's Institute, 2016
Introduction. The problem of formation of bacterial resistance to glycopeptides and beta-lactam antibiotics (cephalosporins and carbapenems) are used worldwide for the treatment of severe community acquired and nosocomial infections, especially caused by

Functional Anatomical Changes in Ulcerative Colitis Patients Determine Their Gut Microbiota Composition and Consequently the Possible Treatment Outcome

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2020
Gut microbial composition alters in some special situations, such as in ulcerative colits (UC) after total proctocolectomy and ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) surgery. The aim of our study was to determine the composition of the intestinal microbiome

Enterococcus faecalis Extracellular Vesicles Deliver the Bacterial GTPase Obg to Hijack mTOR Signalling in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
E. faecalis is enriched in HCC tissue and can promote liver tumourigenesis by activating mTOR signalling pathway. Obg derived from E. faecalis extracellular vesicles (EVs) is a GTPase physically interacts with mTOR, and acts as an interkingdom activator of mTOR. EF‐Obg expression level in HCC tissue correlates with poor prognosis in HCC patients.

Conservación bacteriana por método simple a temperatura ambiente: una alternativa viable Bacterial conservation by simple method at room temperature: a viable alternative

Gut Microbiota Alterations Associated With Colonization by Multidrug‐Resistant Organisms in ICU Patients: First Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Microbiota profiling showed colonized critically ill patients had lower values of dominance/evenness (Simpson's index) and richness (Observed), reaching significantly lower values of information (mean difference in Shannon index = –1.18; 95% CI, –1.84 to –0.52; p < 0.001).

Extension of Sous Vide Preservation of Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo L.) Meat With Rosmarinus officinalis Essential Oil: A Study on Chemical Composition and Antibacterial Effectiveness Against Listeria monocytogenes and Other Population of Isolated Microbiota

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
Schematic illustration of sous vide preparation of wild turkey meat and microbiological analysis of the meat. ABSTRACT In our study, we focused on the chemical composition of Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil (ROEO), its antimicrobial effects. Drawing from existing research, we further investigated the antimicrobial properties of ROEO under in vivo ...
