Clinician's Approach to Antibiotic Treatment and Management of Preterm Prelabour Rupture of Membranes (PPROM) in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand—A Survey

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Preterm prelabour rupture of membranes (PPROM) is a common obstetric complication with significant maternal and foetal consequences. There is a lack of contemporary evidence regarding the optimal management of PPROM, including the best antibiotic regimen and management at previable gestations.

Identification of Gut Biomarkers of FPIES in a Longitudinal Comparative Pediatric Study

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
We compared fecal biomarkers related to gut inflammation and immunity in children with FPIES, with resolved FPIES (tolerant), and in matched controls. Allergic patients had no measurable gut inflammation (calprotectin, EDN) on elimination diet. Inflammation was transitory after an acute allergic reaction.

Prevalence of fetal anomalies, stillbirth, neonatal morbidity, or mortality in pregnancies complicated by placenta accreta spectrum disorders

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Placenta accreta spectrum disorders are associated with neonatal morbidity risks associated with prematurity and fetal sequelae of maternal bleeding rather than a direct consequence of the placentation abnormalities, and the absolute risk of fetal malformations remains low.

Assessment of novel sonographic and biochemical tools for spontaneous preterm birth prediction in asymptomatic twin pregnancies

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Multiple pregnancy substantially contributes to preterm birth rate worldwide. Sonographic markers of preterm birth, such as cervical length measurement, have limited prediction accuracy. Combining sonographic mid‐trimester cervical length with uterocervical angle improves the prediction of spontaneous preterm birth in asymptomatic and uncomplicated ...

Tracking visual outcomes – Follow‐up on patients born preterm with childhood‐onset visual impairment

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Preterm birth is associated with a risk of ocular complications. The primary aim of the study was to evaluate the main cause of visual impairment (VI) in a cohort of preterm born patients who had childhood‐onset VI. The association between health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) and age, cause—and severity of VI and impairment type was ...
