Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli O157 Strains from Brazil

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2003
We describe two serogroup O157 Escherichia coli strains from Brazilian infants with diarrhea. A variety of assays indicate that these strains belong to the enteropathogenic, not the enterohemorrhagic, pathotype.

Rumen contents as a reservoir of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1993
We investigated the role of the rumen fermentation as a barrier to the foodborne pathogen, Escherichia coli O157:H7. Strains of E. coli, including several isolates of O157:H7, grew poorly in media which simulated the ruminal environment of a well-fed animal. Strains of E. coli O157:H7 did not display a superior tolerance to ruminal conditions which may

The antimicrobial activity of probiotic bacteria Escherichia coli isolated from different natural sources against hemorrhagic E. coli O157:H7

open access: yesElectronic Physician, 2018
Background: Diarrheal diseases have been seen in all geographical areas throughout the world. Therefore, considering treatment, could be deemed a necessary action.

EspF of Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli Enhances Apoptosis via Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Intestinal Epithelial Cells: An Isobaric Tags for Relative and Absolute Quantitation-Based Comparative Proteomic Analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
There have been large foodborne outbreaks related to Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) around the world. Among its virulence proteins, the EspF encoded by locus of enterocyte effacement is one of the most known functional effector proteins.

Genome Sequence of Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli NCCP15658 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2012
ABSTRACT Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli causes severe food-borne disease in the guts of humans and animals. Here, we report the high-quality draft genome sequence of E. coli NCCP15658 isolated from a patient in the Republic of Korea. Its genome size was determined to be 5.46 Mb,

Occurrence of Escherichia coli virulence genes in feces of wild birds from Central Italy

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine, 2019
Objective: To investigate the potential role of wild birds as fecal spreaders of enteropathogenic, enterohemorrhagic and Shiga-toxins producing Escherichia coli (E. coli), enteropathogenic E. coli, enterohemorrhagic E.

Intestinal damage in enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infection [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Nephrology, 2011
Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) infection leads to marked intestinal injury. Sigmoid colon obtained from two children during EHEC infection exhibited abundant TUNEL-positive cells. To define which bacterial virulence factors contribute to intestinal injury the presence of Shiga toxin-2 (Stx2), intimin and the type III secretion system were ...

Characterization of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase-Producing Escherichia coli in Diarrhoeal Faeces from 0 to 5-Year-Old Children Attending Public Hospitals in Franceville, Gabon

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background: In Gabon, studies on the characterization of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli in young children with diarrhoea are almost nonexistent.

Molecular detection of a new pathotype enteroaggregative haemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EAHEC) in Indonesia, 2015

open access: yesInfectious Disease Reports, 2020
Enteroaggregative haemorrhagic Escherichia coli (E. Coli, EAHEC) has been identified as the agent responsible for one of the largest outbreaks of gastroenteritis and Haemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) that is transmitted through food in Germany in 2011 ...
