Local Knowledge and Conservation Priorities of Medicinal Plants near a Protected Area in Brazil
We investigated the influence of socioeconomic factors (age, gender, and occupation) on the local knowledge of medicinal plants in the Araripe National Forest, Brazil, and the priority of conservation of the species as perceived by people. Additionally, priority species for in situ conservation were identified by calculating conservation priority (CP).

The Parque Estadual Mata Atlântica (PEMA), Goiás state, Brazil, is an Atlantic Forest reserve which has not been studied yet. The aims were to investigate plant biodiversity and characterize the flora to support the management plan. We adopt the point‐centered quarter method to inventory the tree‐shrub and lianas with the diameter at breast height more

ABSTRACT Among the main problems that compromise the development of forest species are water and salt stresses, especially in the early stages of development, when seedlings are more sensitive. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the morphophysiological and biochemical changes in Enterolobium contortisiliquum seedlings subjected to ...

Mulching does not improve seedling survival or growth during early forest restoration
Abstract Introduction Weed control is one of the main operational challenges and cost components of tropical forest restoration in former pasturelands. Physical barriers (mulches) have been proposed as an alternative to conventional ring weeding because they can suppress competing vegetation while potentially improving the soil microenvironment ...

Quality and Conservation of Riparian Forest in a Mountain Subtropical Basin of Argentina
The aims of this work were to describe the conservation status of riparian forests located in a mountain subtropical basin of Tucumán province, Argentina, and assess how the quality of riparian forests is related with altitude, plant species richness, proportion of exotic species, and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in adjacent rivers.
