Occurrence of Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli Serotypes in Butter

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1987
A total of 30 samples of butter analysed during the course of the investigation showed that fecal coliforms were absent from only 13.3% of samples. One hundred forty colonies of fecal coliforms were biochemically characterized with the following types obtained ( Escherichia sp. 41.4%, Enterobacter sp. 25.7%, Citrobacter sp. 20%, Klebsiella sp.

Prevalence and antibiotic resistance patterns of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli isolated from adolescents and adults in Hamedan, Western Iran

open access: yesIranian Journal of Microbiology, 2013
Background and Objectives: Pathogenic strains of Escherichia coli are a common cause of acute infectious diarrhea. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency, virulence markers and antibiotic resistance patterns of diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC)

Serum Neopterin in Differential Diagnosis of Bacterial Diarrhea in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesPteridines, 2019
Background: Neopterin, regarded as a marker of cellular immune activation, has been used in diagnosis of infection caused by intracellular pathogens. We have aimed to evaluate the clinical usefulness of serum neopterin (NPT) in acute bacterial diarrhea ...

Molecular basis of binding between the global post-transcriptional regulator CsrA and the T3SS chaperone CesT

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
CesT is a type III secretion system chaperone that interacts with the post-transcriptional regulator CsrA, which is important for the modulation of post-attachment signaling in enteropathogenic and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli.

[Classic enteropathogenic Escherichia coli].

open access: yesArquivos de gastroenterologia, 1998
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli. (EPEC) are gram negative bacteria of great importance in the etiology of diarrhea in children under two years of age living in developing countries. It was first reported in 1946. Its pathogenic mechanism was unknown until 1970 when several papers were published in the attempt to find out their physiophatologic ...

Genetic relationship of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli pathotypes among the enteropathogenic Escherichia coli O serogroup

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2007
The genetic relationship among the Escherichia coli pathotypes was investigated. We used random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) data for constructing a dendrogram of 73 strains of diarrheagenic E. coli. A phylogenetic tree encompassing 15 serotypes from
